The next afternoon, Aaron had suddenly got into a workout mood, so he dragged me with him for a light jog.
We ran for about an hour straight before taking a break on a bench at a nearby park.

"That wasn't so bad, right? ", he asked.

I looked at him, as I was still trying to catch my breath, and took a sip from my water bottle.

My phone alerted me of a DM notification from Kenya, so I just read it from my lock screen.

"Babe, I'm about to go meet up with Kenya."

"Okay. Well, you wanna go back to the house and change and I just give you a ride to her? ", he asked.

"Umm... no. I mean it's only like a 15 minute walk from here. She's at work and have an hour break. I don't wanna miss her and hold this off longer."

"Alright.", he said.

"You can come pick me up afterwards though.", I said, as I got up from the bench.

He stood up as well. "I got you babe.", he said, grabbing me by the waist and pecking my lips. "You sure you up for this right now? "

I nodded. "Yeah."

"Okay. Just hit my phone when you're ready for me to come get you.", he said.

"I will."

We kissed once more and went our separate ways.

Kenya worked at an Old Navy in the outlets mall, so while I waited for her, I went into Starbucks to get myself a frappe.
After purchasing my drink, I went outside and sat at one of the tables near her store so she could easily spot me.
I felt a knot form in my stomach as soon as I saw her walk through Old Navy's doors and in my direction.
"Mel, what's up girl.", she spoke, as she pulled the chair out to sit.

I sat back in my chair, with my legs crossed, sipping on my delicious frappe, as I looked up at her with that fake ass smile on her face.

I took my mouth off of the straw to speak. "You tell me, Kenya. You just went ghost and changed your number like you no longer fuck wit' anybody."

She sighed. "I know, I just been goin through some shit."

"Oh, you couldn't possibly be going through half of the shit I've been going through."

"I know.", she agreed. "Evelyn told me about your accident and that you lost the baby. I'm sorry you had to go through that Mel.", she said.

For someone who was fuckin' my ex man and still smiling in my face, I knew that 'sorry' was far from genuine.

"Yeah, I am too.", I said, as I set my Starbucks cup on the table. "But let's cut the small talk here cuz I know you have to get back to work and I'd like to carry on wit' my day... so what's up wit' you and Shawn? "

She made a face as if I had said the wrong name and she was confused.

"Me and Shawn? ", she asked, sounding dumb.

"Yes! You and Shawn - my ex!"

She shifted in her chair as she spoke. "First of all, I didn't eve..."

"Don't sit in my face, once again, tellin me some bullshit like you didn't know him or didn't know that I was his girl at the time.", I said, cutting her off. "Listen, I didn't come here to listen to you beat around the bush, or make a scene, or fight you, or any crazy shit like that. We're both grown, let's talk. Help me understand why you felt the need to stab me in the back like that."
