Maddie had been home for a couple weeks now. Olivia had been taking time off to get maddie to a safe mindset and had been joining maddie in some of her therapy appointments. Today was one of those days.
Maddie was sitting quietly as olivia and Dr. Harding were trying to get her to open up. "Maddie, your mother and myself are just worried. We know you just finished going through withdrawals and that is never easy." Dr. Harding said.
"I just want you to talk to me so you don't have to turn to that stuff anymore." Olivia sighed.
"I just...don't want to talk about it ok. What's past is past and I can't change that." Maddie groaned "we keep talking about the same stuff over and over I'm just done."
"Ok maddie but let me just ask you...are you still haveing feelings of suicide?" Dr. Harding asked.
"Why do you have to keep asking me that?!" She said loudly.
"Because it's only been 2 and a half weeks since you admitted to your mother that you have thought about it. Was overdosing the way you really wanted to do it?" Dr. Harding asked.
"I shouldn't have said anything ok. Can we just go." Maddie looked away and went to stand.
"No maddie we can't just go. I need to know where your mind is right now." Olivia said concerned.
Maddie screamed in frustration and said "fine ok have I thought about what it be like to take more pills and fall asleep and never wake up? Yes. Have I thought about how easy it would be to open moms gun safe and hold her revolver to my head and end all of this....Shit!? Yes. Do I know the code to your off duty gun safe? 425871 yes. Now are we done?"
Olivia was shocked at how vivid her daughters suicide scenarios were and the fact that she knew the code to the safe made her even more panicked. Maddie stormed out of the room and both olivia and Dr. Harding followed suit. Olivia grabbed her daughters arm and pulled her to her chest hugging her but then pulled her back and said "how do you know that code?"
Maddie rolled her eyes and looked away "it doesn't matter."
"Maddie it 100% matters." Olivia said with tears welling in her eyes.
"I seen you getting your gun out for work a few weeks ago." Maddie sighed.
"Maddie. I can't let you go home knowing your haveing these thoughts." Dr. Harding said.
Maddie looked at her "no you can't send me back to the hospital! The whole school already thinks I'm a nut job." Maddie said.
"I'm sorry Maddie but I can't in good conscience let you go with that in your head." She said.
Maddie shook her head and looked at olivia "Mom I just want to go home please."
Olivia sighed hateing what had to be done "Maddie your not crazy you just need help." She said as Maddie turned to leave 2 nurses stopped her. Maddie yelled "I can't believe your letting her do this!" Maddie yelled as the nurses took her away to the psych ward.
Olivia sighed as a few tears escaped her eyes "what do I do Hannah? She refuses to open up. How can I help her?"
Dr. Harding sighed "I know you don't want to do it but I think it's time for that inpatient rehab and therapy."
"And what if she hates me afterward?" She said wiping her eyes.
"She will understand eventually but you have to do what's best for her now liv just like you tell other victims and thier parents." Hannah said.
Olivia sighed sadly but nodded and started the process of admitting her to the inpatient rehab.
