Over the next couple months olivia had been letting maddiewalk to her therapy appointments trying to give her kids a little more freedom. Maddie had been telling her mother that's where she was going but the truth was she was canceling her appointments and sneaking off to Brooklyn to get high. The high made her feel better than she ever had after a therapy session.

When 2 months went by with no update from maddies therapist, Dr. Harding, she decided to stop by her office after work and knocked on her door.

Dr. Harding answered surprised to see olivia. "Olivia? Hello how have you been?" She asked.

"I'd be better if I was getting some kind of update on my daughters therapy. You haven't called in almost 2 months." Olivia replied.

Hannah Harding was confused "what do you mean olivia? I haven't had a session with maddie in at least 2 months."

Olivia was now the confused one "no she was supposed to be here just today for another appointment...."

"Yes but the last couple months she's been canceling the session a few hours before she's supposed to be here....I thought you knew?" Hannah said.

"No cause she's been texting me 3 times a week that she's here speaking with you. She's been lying to me?" Olivia was angry but also panicked wondering what her daughter had been doing during the times she was supposed to be at therapy.

"I'm sorry olivia if I would have known I would have contacted you." Hannah said.

"No. No it's not your fault I'm sorry I barged in here like that....I have to go talk to my daughter." She sighed and walked out without another word.

When Olivia arrived home to the apartment noah was playing video games on the couch "hey mom" he said but still focused on the screen.

Olivia faked a smile "hey buddy. Listen where is your sister?"

"She's in her room. I guess that therapy got to her and she said she was tired" he said.

"Ok thanks" she ruffled her sons hair as he groaned.

"Oh mom come on" he laughed slightly.

Olivia made her way down to the end of the hall where maddies room was and just walked in without knocking this time and just seen maddie shoving something under her pillow "jeez mom whatever happened to knocking."

"What did you just shove under your pillow Madelyn?" Olivia asked as she walked over and grabbed for it before maddie could. "Your kidding me right?!" Olivia said frustrated at maddie and herself for not seeing the signs sooner.

Maddie sighed and tried to grab the bag back but olivia pulled it back. "So what it's not that big a deal. Plus it helps."

"Not that big a deal?! Maddie these are street drugs! And why did I have to find out from doctor Granger that you haven't gone to a session in 2 months?!" Olivia said as her anger and frustration just poured out.

"Why?! Because it doesn't help! I still have nightmares every night! He tries to call me several times a week! And texts me about all the things he still wants to do to me!" Maddie yelled back.

Olivia froze "maddie...why didn't you tell me?" Olivia finally asked.

"Because you were just starting to give me some real freedom and telling you that....it would have just made you more paranoid and worried." She sighed but didn't look at her.

"So you turn to drugs instead?" Olivia asked sitting next to maddie on the bed.

"I don't take them all the time ok" she lied "just to sleep and to concentrate."

"So you talk to doctor Granger and get real prescription that will help you, you don't do this." She said matter of factly.

She rolled her eyes "why so I can be marked crazy by everyone? No thank you. Maybe that works for you but not for me."

"You are not crazy and neither am I. We have both been through unthinkable situations of trauma and I'm dealing with mine and you need to do the same. I don't want to wake up one morning or come home from work one night to find you dead on the floor from an overdose." Olivia continued "this stops now."

Maddie rolled her eyes "whatever." She said and lay in her bed facing away from olivia "just go away."

Olivia sighed "fine but your grounded until further notice. You go to school you come to the precinct and we go home together until I know your through with this." She said and grabbed maddies bag on the way out to check it. As she shut maddies door behind her she heard maddie throw something at the door and scream in frustration and olivia stopped a moment and sighed shaking her head.
