~Katie's POV~

"Uh... What?" Marissa's eyes were the size of golf balls as Nick explained his story to her.

I looked at her sympathetically. She had just come back from Switzerland, getting engaged and everything, to be shot at with new mind blowing information. She didnt deserve it, but there was no choice.

"I'm a male Siren, Marissa." Nick repeated patiently. It was probably hard on him too. He had to reveal his secret yet again, doubling the chance of him getting caught.

I held Marissa's hand reassuringly, willing her to understand. I gazed into her blue eyes, trying to read what was going through her mind. She had no expression in them, blocking me out from predicting what she would do.

I glanced in Nick's direction, seeing him staring at his feet blankly. I grabbed his hand with my free one, stroking circles with my thumb gently. He looked up at me and smiled weakly. I returned the gesture.

I looked back to Marissa. She was still deep in thought, seeming to analyze and process every word spoken to her.

That's how we sat for what seemed like forever. Me bringing my attention back and forth between my two friends.

Is Nick even my friend? I don't know anymore.

After a while, a wild look crossed Marissa's eyes. She stood up abruptly. I stood up with her and grabbed her shoulders gently, looking at her expectantly.

She looked back at me, a flash of sadness ad disappointment crossing her face, disappearing in a second.

"I gotta go.." She murmured before turning to leave. I grabbed her wrist before she could go any further, wanting her to explain.

Marissa turned around angrily, glaring into my green eyes.

"Let. Me. Go." She growled between gritted teeth. I lightly gasped at her mood change and anger; she was never this brisk and cold with me. I let go of her wrist in fear as she quickly stormed out of the house.

~Marissa's POV~

What the actual fuck. I come home, expecting to see my best friend after a month, but come face to face with this douche 'male Siren' shit. Couldn't Katie see that the dumbass was bullshitting her?

I angrily stormed to my little car and slid into the front seat. I heard someone open the cottage door after me. Looking into my rear ire mirror as I started the engine, I realized it was Nicholas. He walked towards my car, like he owned the fucking place. He acted like he was so much better than everyone!

I quickly pressed on the gas before he could approach me, speeding down the driveway. I saw him stop and watch me leave, appalled. I laughed to myself, the stupid bastard looked like someone had just taken a shit on his new shoes.

I turned onto the highway and headed towards Chris' place, which was about 30 minutes from here. I would stay the night with him, I knew i would be welcome. I turned on the radio, changing it to a local pop station playing 'I Would' by One Direction. I blasted the music out of my Fiestas speakers, singing and dancing in my seat loudly.

"Would he say he's in L-O-V-E? Because if it was me, then I would, I WOULD!" I sang obnoxiously.

Being alone have me time to think. I had to convince Katie that the fucktard she let stay at our house was just using her.

She was obviously head over heels for the guy. She basically worshipped the ground he walked on. He had her whipped real good. That's why she couldn't see the fact he was using her. For what, I'm not sure. I don't think I want to know, he could be involved in some dark and dirty stuff.

But he didn't realize he was dealing with Marissa Carter, the most stubborn and persistent girl around. I would change Katie's mind. I would make her see the light, even if she didnt want to. I know she would probably be hurt, but it would be for the better. She would eventually understand.

I cruised down the highway, watching the lights of the city grow bigger on the horizon. The dark engulfed most of the landscape, it was close to 11:00 already, as I sped down the black surface to my lovely boyfriends house.

Scrap that. Fiancé!

I grinned widely as I thought of him proposing to me. I glanced at my engagement ring. It was a silver band with a small diamond placed snuggle into its curls. I bit my lip, I was living every girls dream! I couldn't believe it.

I looked up just in time to see a large pickup truck barrelling my way. I didn't have time to scream before it hit me head on, causing my car to roll across the pavement. I felt my head smash against my window, sending pain coursing through my body. The car rolled over once again flattening the roof so it squished me.

The car screeched to a stop, laying on its side. I felt warmth on my chest. I looked down to see my short soaked in red blood, spreading quickly.

Oh shit. No! I thought to myself before it all went black.
