Hazel sat in the Senate House anxiously watching the debate going on between Percy and Reyna and Octavian.Hazel had to admit, it was hard to believe that Jason Grace was coming back with a bunch of Greeks in a massive warship and they weren't supposed to be worried. If it had been coming from anyone but Percy she would've laughed and dismissed it as being impossible. But they'd made Percy their Praetor because they trusted him, so she was sure that Reyna would believe him.

Well, almost. Octavian had had a strong speaking voice and he could turn a crowd in an instant. Percy was also a great speaker, but the senators seemed pretty conflicted. When Percy was speaking they seemed to be on his side, but when Octavian was talking they were in his corner.

Just then an out-of-breath messenger ran in the Senate House. "Praetors! I'm sorry to interrupt, but our scouts report a Greek trireme half a mile away! What are your orders?"

Octavian bolted out of his chair. "We can't trust these Greeks! They come to our camp with a fully armed warship and we aren't supposed to be worried? We need to defend ourselves!"

Percy glared at him with such hatred that the room fell silent, "I already told you, those Greeks are our friends. They won't hurt us. And if you do any-"

"Enough!" Reyna said forcefully. "You both make good points, but I will decide on this matter." Hazel waited for what seemed like ages while Reyna contemplated her answer.

"We will not fire on the ship, if Percy says that the Greeks are friendly, I believe him. But, have the legion stand ready in case something... unexpected happens,". The senators got up and ran out of the room, out of fear or excitement, Hazel couldn't tell.

"Praetor Reyna!" the messenger called over the stampeding senators, "There is one more matter you must see to,". He stepped aside and Mrs. O'Leary trotted into the room with Ella who flew and perched on Percy's chair. But there was a girl on the hellhound grinning like a madman. She was strikingly beautiful, with long, straight, pitch black hair and pale skin. But her eyes made Hazel's skin crawl. They were pale blue, almost white; there was something unnatural about her.

"What is the meaning of this?" Reyna demanded to no one in particular. The messenger had already run out either to prepare for the incoming Greeks or because he was scared of Reyna's reaction. Hazel knew she was.

To everyone's surprise, Ella responded. "Girl sees through the Mist. She has a prophetic book,". Everyone stared at the girl as she jumped down from Mrs. O'Leary. "Hey," she said awkwardly, her voice echoing through the room. You could've heard a pin drop.

"Who are you?" Percy demanded in his I'm-in-charge-don't-mess-with-me voice. "Uh...um..." was all the girl could manage. She looked like she was about to faint. Hazel felt bad for her. She was probably so confused. "Well," she thought to herself, "so are we,".

"I'm Leila," the girl finally managed, "Ella told me to follow her here. I'm not sure why,".

"Ella," Hazel said carefully, "why would you bring a mortal to Camp Jupiter?"

"The seven demigods will require a guide, lest they get destroyed in the oncoming tide". Everyone gaped at the little red harpy. "Ok then..." Hazel said, unsure of herself, "So is Leila supposed to be our guide?".

Ella tilted her head to one side, "The guide has unknown powers she hides, to be revealed to all when the time comes to arise,". Hazel and Frank exchanged nervous glances. What was Ella talking about? There was no way Leila was a demigod. She looked sixteen; she would've been killed by monsters by now. So what powers could she have?

Percy stood, "Well it seems we have no choice. Leila will be the guide of the seven," he looked unsure, and Hazel couldn't blame him. There was so much that was a mystery about this girl.

"I agree," Reyna said, her face perfectly masking her emotions, "Leila will not be included as part of the group of seven demigods since she is not one," she said, glaring daggers at the poor girl, "but, she will lead them." Hazel wasn't sure if either Percy or Reyna were convinced, she knew she wasn't. She didn't trust this girl, but everyone seemed to be in agreement for now, so they got up and went to the forum to greet their new friends.
