~Jasper pov~
"Okay okay, can you put this in the oven please. And make sure that the cake is In the fridge. Is that stove on?" My mother asked. She stood in the doorway of the kitchen her hair tied back into a bun and her tight figure was placed in a ruby red dress, that complemented her skin tone. She was fretting as usual, we were having guests over.
Guests, meaning cleo and her family.
I still haven't forgiven mum for this, not like she had apologized anyway, she seemed pretty pleased with herself. She dusted some imaginary dust from her shoulders and walked of to set the dining room table. She really wanted to make an impression. That much I know.
After making sure everything was fine in the kitchen I walked up the stairs to get changed. I threw open my cupboard and pulled on my favorite jeans. I put on a plain white tshirt. And my fathers leather jacket.
Just as I was tying my laces on my converse. My mother headed for the front door as I jotted down stairs. "Why hello! Come in come in!" She smiled warmly at them. Cleo walked through the hallway and into the lounge. The rest of her family joined her but our parents soon left to get some drinks with in the kitchen. I walked in and sat down across from cleo and her sister. Cleo looked amazing. She had blue skinny jeans on and grey hoodie. Her long blonde hair was down and threatened to hide her face as it slipped forward every time she moved. "Hey Cleo cat, what's up?' I ask casually.
"Nothing much, this is my sister Billy." She said introducing us. Billy gave me a shy smile, before excusing herself to go to the bathroom.
We sat in silence for a few minuets. "Aren't you going to ask me a Radom question, you know to "break the silence"?" I ask.
"Nope, I think that was a pretty random question." She said smiling.
And to think I was so close to kissing those gorgeous lips.
Ah get out of my head!!!!
She laughs at the now silent, again, room.
"So.."
"So.."
"Wanna do something?" I ask.
"Is this something, dangerous?" She raises her eyebrows.
"Maybe."
"Awesome!" She smiles.
"I think I brought the bad out of you!" I joke, she punches me lightly.
"Is it a bad thing I like the bad cleo?" I wink she rolls her eyes and walks into the kitchen. "Dad, we're going out!" She announces. Her father raises his eyebrows but doesn't oblige. "Have fun kids, be careful." My mother warns, before sharing a small cheeky grin with me.
She Doesn't take no for an answer dose she?
"Won't be long," I say closing the door. Once in the front yard, Cleo turned to me her eyes shining. "So jas what are we doing?" She asked tilting her head. "I wanna show you something." I took her hand and pulled her towards our big shed at the back of our house. My father used to be a mechanic before he left for war.
It took both of us to open the heavy metallic door. I found an old touch perched on the table, the first thing you see. I grabbed it and tried it. With a flicker it turned on. cleo coughed twice before following me into the dark unknowns of the shed. She stayed close to me, and when a mouse ran out from underneath a box she jumped. "Hey ease up cleo," I snorted with laughter, "it's just a mouse!" "Easy for you to say!" She muttered. We rounded the corner of the shed and I spied what I was looking for. "Here," I said passing Cleo the torch whilst I climbed over a chair and carried the objective of our mission out.
"A motor bike?" Cleo eyes widen in surprise. "Yep, I wanna teach you to ride it!" Cleo smiled.
God if only she could hear my heart when she did that.
I wheeled the bike out and lifted it up into the back of my ute. "Okay kitty lets go!"
I climbed in and started the engine. Looking over at Cleo I smiled. "How lucky am I, I've got a babe, a motor bike and....." I started, cleo blushed. "Oh right I forgot about you, and a kitten!" Cleo rolled her eyes and did up her seatbelt. "Come on Jasper, are we going or not?" "Impatient are we?" I laughed at her pouted expression. "Alright kitty lets get going!"
>three hours later<
she clutched the handlebars with her life. "Cleo I'm not going to let it hurt you." "I know" she sat up and opened her eyes. "Okay, one more time." She persisted. We had been out in a paddock for a while, I was teaching her how to ride a motor bike. She was going great. I revved the engine and looked her in the eyes. "Remember break." I reminded. She nodded. I stepped out the way and she looked up for approval. "When your ready." She took a deep breath and took off. She was off to a great star.... And then two things happened momentarily. One minuet she was on the motor bike the next she was flying off it.
I herd her scream and I ran the little distance as fast as I could. "Cleo? Cleo can you hear me? Are you okay?" I ask, I was really worried. I bent down next to her. She sat up causally and dusted off her hands. She tried to stand but fell over in pain. "What's hurting?" I ask. "My hip." "Show me Cleo." She shakes her head. "No I'm fine!" "Cleo I can't help you if you don't show me."
Reluctantly she lifted up the bottom of her shirt to revel her hip. There was a deep graze and a cut plastered there. She winced as I touched it. "Cleo I'm sorry, I think we should take you to the hospital." I help her up. "No, I want to try again." She said climbing back onto the bike. "Are you mad?" I say grabbing her by her waist and lifting her off. "No, I'm serious!" She turned to me. "I won't let you," I place my hands on her cheeks. "Your precious cargo." She sighed and nodded.
I helped her into the car, then when back to collect the bike. "Maybe we should do something a bit safer next time hey?" I laugh. She gave a small laugh but looked out the window. "Hey? What's wrong?" I ask. "Nothing" Cleo answered quickly. "Cleo?" "I'm sorry I ruined this afternoon. Your right I'm not dangerous. I suck!" She sniffed. "Oh Cleo if only that were true, you scare me half to death your that dangerous." I said making her smile. "Come on let's go home, my mum will have something for your hip."
We arrived just after six thirty. The lights in cleo's house had been turned on indicating that her farther and billy had gone home. I opend the door and held it open for Cleo. She smiled at me and walked through. I took off my jacket once inside. My mother came rushing in. "What time do you call this? Oh hello Cleo I hadn't realized you were there. Your father and sister have already left dear!" She smiled warmly at Cleo. "No that's fine." Cleo answered politely. "Mum Cleo hurt herself, do you have anything for it?" I ask.
My mothers face creases, "oh of course what happend?" I glance at Cleo. "Um..." "I fell over. I'm really clumsy" Cleo confirmed.
Phew good save.
"Oh dear let me have a look." My mum led her into the kitchen. I chucked my keys into the bowl on the hall stand. A few minuets later Cleo appeared. "Are you okay?" I said looking down at her hip. "I'm fine thanks to your mum!" She smiles. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow at school okay?" She says. "Hey do you want a ride? I have to pick up my mates anyway." I ask hpoeful. "I would love to but...I'm meant to meet Cora at the bus." "She can come too, the more the merrier right?" I blabber on. "Well then sure, I'd love to. Good night Jasper." She surprised me by hugging me. I hugged her back. "Thank You for everything." "No problem kitty, good night." I said releasing her.
"Night Cleo cat" I silently whisper before she disappeared into the night.
