kiara turns around looking for jj when all of a sudden she feels arms grab her. she lets out a scream and feels a blade pressed up against her neck. in fear, she calls out for jj.

"jj!" she cries out as he burst through the wooden door that separated them. he had yet to notice the scene in front of him.

"kie-" he turns around and his body stills as his eyes set on groff holding kie. "you let her go!"

he steps forward but groff presses the blade down, soft enough so it's not piecing kie's skin, but still against her neck. "stop right there." he demands and jj stops.

groff's eyes find the crown in jj's hands and he looks up at his 'son.' "you know what i want. give it to me!"

"just let her go." jj tries to reason with his biological father but groff wasn't gonna back down.

"you could've stuck with me, jj. think of what you could've had." groff chuckled, "but now, you... you're going to get nothing. nothing."

"no." jj said and groff raised a brow, "i already have everything. and i had everything i've ever wanted. things that you'll never have." jj smirked, and held up the crown, "you want the crown? sure, take it. take it, i don't want it. just... let her go."

after his last sentence, groff reached out for the crown, "hold it out." he said, but kept his knife on kie.

"take it." jj said and soon enough, groff had the crown and jj had kie girl back in his arms. he knew he had to get kie back. he couldn't save his claire but he could save kie. even if it meant giving up the treasure. it's what claire would've done.

"it's okay. i got you." jj panted as he held kie tight in his embrace.

"jj." groff spoke up as he observed the crown, the blonde boy kept his eyes on the man. jj pushed kie behind him, not knowing what his father might do. "it's.. it's a shame. you and me." he laughed and before jj could react, he felt a sharp pain in his side and the sound of flesh tearing. he gasped and kept his eyes on groff. "you should have given me..." he twisted the knife deeper, "...the rope." jj groaned as he pulled the knife out and backed away, leaving jj to hold his wound. kie stepped forward and gasped at the blood that covered his shirt and hands.

jj collapsed to the ground and kie followed him. "no, no, no. it's okay. it's okay." she reassured him and gasped at the wound. she held her hands over his side as he groaned in pain. jj coughed up blood and kie's eyes began to water. she began to have flashbacks of claire. she shook the thought out of her head and looked at jj.

"hey, look at me. you're going to be okay. it's gonna be okay, jj. please, it has to be. i can't lose you too. i can't lose you both. please, j." kie cried and jj grabbed her hand.

"i never told you my wish."

"what? no. jj... jj, it's okay."

"i already got my wish. everything i wanted. but she's gone. i get to see her again, kie." jj let a tear slip out as kie sobbed.

"jj, stop." he heard her voice. he heard claire's voice. "you need to stay alive. you can't leave them."

"i have to." he breathed.

"stay with me. please!!" kie cried.

jj smiled, "take care of this others."

"no, jj!"

"i love you, kie. tell them too."

as jj took his final breath, his hand went limp in kiara's grip and she let out a scream. she screamed for john b. she screamed even louder for pope. and lastly, she screamed for claire. she screamed for a girl who wasn't there in reality, but was holding onto jj the entire time, begging him not to leave.

claire knew he went on a rampage downtown. she knew everything. she knew that ring in his pocket was for her. she knew jj knew he would see her soon. he knew he was going to die. he knew he was getting his girl back. and claire got her boy back.

jj and claire met again in the afterlife. now they get to watch their friends grow old. they get to find out sarah is pregnant with twins. she's naming one jj, the other one claire.
