Sheva's House
Roan, WV
AprilSheva's phone buzzed on the counter, the sound cutting through the haze of her thoughts as she wiped down the bar. She glanced at the screen, her heart skipping a beat when she saw Dean's name.
𝗛𝗲𝘆, 𝗜'𝗺 𝗼𝗸𝗮𝘆! 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗻-𝗶𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗺𝗽. 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀. 𝗜'𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗼𝗼𝗻!
She frowned, her heart tightening at the thought of him in danger. She quickly typed back.
𝘼𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙤𝙠𝙖𝙮?
But as soon as she hit send, she felt an unsettling knot in her stomach. He wouldn't reply, she thought. He never really did when he was busy with hunting. With a heavy sigh, she tucked her phone away, forcing herself to focus on the tasks at hand. She had a shift to prepare for, and the club would soon be bustling with patrons. As she moved around the bar, though, her mind was elsewhere. The pregnancy test she had taken that morning still loomed in her thoughts, the tiny window of results waiting for her attention. It felt like a ticking clock, the weight of uncertainty pressing down on her. She had taken the test before heading to work, needing to know where she stood. But now, as the minutes dragged on, the anxiety gnawed at her.
As Sheva finished setting up the bar she glanced at her watch. It wasn't time yet, but she felt an overwhelming urge to check. Instead, she continued to wait.
She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the reality that could be waiting for her. This was what happened when you had unprotected sex, she reminded herself. Dean's seed had probably come to fruition, and now she had to face the reality. Deep down she already knew the outcome. But she wouldn't mind being proven wrong. But a woman's intuition never lies. Why did the sex have to be so good. It was the only thing that ever filled the void.
After a few more minutes, she couldn't stand it anymore. She excused herself to the staff restroom, her heart racing as she approached the small sink. She took a deep breath and grabbed the test from her bag, her hands shaking slightly. The moment of truth was here, and she needed to prepare herself for whatever the result might be.
She glanced at the test, then back at her reflection in the mirror. "Okay, Sheva, you can do this." She whispered to herself, trying to muster some confidence.
After what felt like an eternity, she finally looked down at the test. The two pink lines stared back at her, unmistakable and undeniable. She was pregnant.
Shock washed over her, a wave of emotion crashing into her as she sank onto the edge of the sink. She was going to be a mother. The reality of it hit her hard, and she felt a mix of joy and fear flooding her system. She had so many questions, and yet no answers. She couldn't jot down how far along, she would be, since she didn't know which time caused this. It wont be until she sees a doctor, and that was another hurdle entirely. Her mother? Will be furious.
The thought of visiting a doctor felt daunting. She had no official registration, no medical history to present. In many ways, she felt invisible, a ghost in a world that didn't always acknowledge her existence.
What would she tell Dean? Would he be excited? Scared? Would he want to be involved? The uncertainty dawned on her. She knew she had options, but the thought of making any decisions alone felt overwhelming. They both should be involved.
