Sheva's Room
Roan, WV
May 6th
12 AMThe moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the quiet streets as Dean pulled into the driveway. The day had been long, filled with meetings and plans, but his heart raced with anticipation as he thought of Sheva waiting for him at home. He stepped out of the car and took a moment to breathe in the cool night air, feeling the slight chill against his skin. He walked up to the porch, Cas and Sam still hanging out, said goodnight to Dean.
The door creaked open, as he stepped into the house, the faint smell of celebration lingering on him. While he felt the warmth of excitement coursing through him, he was also aware of the gentle buzz of alcohol in his system, causing him sinful thoughts.
He tiptoed through the living room, careful not to make too much noise. The last thing he wanted was to wake Sheva if she was finally getting some rest. As he reached their bedroom, he pushed the door open slowly, his heart swelling at the sight of her. She lay peacefully in the unmade bed, her hair fanned out around her, the crescent moon casting a soft glow over her skin.
Dean smiled, feeling a surge of affection. He quickly brushed his teeth, wishing to wash away the remnants of the day's revelry. After stripping off his clothes, he slipped into bed beside her, careful not to disturb her slumber.
Dean lay in bed, the dim light of the moon filtering through the curtains, casting soft shadows across the room. Sheva remained deep in sleep beside him, her breathing steady and calm. He could feel the warmth radiating from her body, and he rested his hand on her belly, feeling the gentle rise and fall beneath his palm.
"Hey there, little one." He whispered, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's just me, your dad." He took a deep breath, trying to calm the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside him. "I wanted to talk to you for a minute."
The room was silent, save for the faint sounds of the night outside. "You're so loved already." Sam, Cas... and those who soon will find out, like Jody and Bobby will love you. " Dean continued, his fingers lightly tracing the curve of Sheva's belly. "Your mom is incredible. She's going to be the best mother. I hope you know how lucky you are to have her. I know I am."
He paused, feeling a surge of emotion. "I just... I want to be a good dad for you. I want to be someone you can look up to, someone you can trust. There's so much I want to teach you. I want to show you the world, take you on adventures, and help you discover who you are."
He felt a small kick, and a smile broke through his somber thoughts. "See? You're already full of energy."
But then, the weight of everything began to settle on him. "I'm scared, though." He confessed, his voice trembling slightly. "I'm scared of not being enough, of letting you down. I know I'm going to make mistakes, but I'm still learning. I don't have much of an example to work off of."
His throat tightened as he continued, emotions spilling over. "You don't know this yet, but the world can be tough. It can be evil, it can be scary... There's so much uncertainty, and I wish I could shield you from it all. I want you to be happy, to feel safe and loved. I want you to grow up knowing you can always come to me, no matter what."
Tears pricked at the corners of his green eyes, and he wiped them away with the back of his hand, feeling vulnerable. "I don't want to cry." He said softly, but the emotion was overwhelming. "I just... I love you so much already, and I'm afraid I won't be able to show you that, the way you deserve. But I'm going to try."
Dean took a moment to collect himself, the tears flowing freely now. "You're going to be so special, you know that? You'll have your own dreams and passions, and I can't wait to watch you grow. I just hope I can be the father you need. I hope I can give you everything I didn't have."
He felt another kick, this one stronger, and he smiled through his tears. "Okay, I get it." He laughed softly, his heart swelling. "You're telling me to stop being a sap, aren't you? I promise I'll do my best to be strong for you... but don't be surprised the day we meet I'm a blubbering mess."
He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself. "Just remember, no matter what, I'll always be here for you. I'll always fight for you and your mom. You're my everything."
With that, he leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss against Sheva's belly, feeling a sense of calm wash over him despite the lingering tears. "Goodnight, little one. I love you."
As he lay back against the pillows, the weight of his emotions settled into a comforting acceptance, with the flutter of his legacy, beneath his hand.
