CHAPTER 26
Shivika entered the kitchen. It was spacious and well-organized, with a partition dividing it from another section. On the other side, there was a dining area, directly set on the floor. The kitchen had a large window and two doors: one leading outside and another to a small garden.
She stood there waiting for Aasha ji, and after a few moments, Aasha ji walked in. Shivika stepped forward and respectfully touched her feet. "Radhe Radhe," Shivika greeted.
"Radhe Radhe, beta," Aasha ji replied warmly.
"Come on, let's finish the pooja quickly so you can start preparing breakfast," Aasha ji suggested.
"Ji," Shivika nodded.
After they completed the pooja, Aasha ji placed all the essential ingredients needed for making the dishes nearby.
"I'm sorry, beta. I really wish I could help you more, but because of Maa ji..." Aasha ji said sincerely.
"No problem, Kaki sa. I can manage," Shivika assured her.
"Okay, then. I need to check on the guests now," Aasha ji said before leaving.
Shivika's POV:-
As Kaki sa went outside, I looked around the kitchen. I had assured her I would manage, but now I was unsure how I would actually do it.
Thinking this over, I went and sat in front of the chulha. I placed dried cow dung and some small sticks haphazardly. I wasn't sure of the right way, but it definitely didn't look correct.
Next, I tried to light it up with a matchstick. But no matter what I did, it just wouldn't catch fire.
After several minutes of trying, I felt exhausted and sat back, defeated.
"This is so hard. I can't do this right now," I muttered to myself.
"What will I do now?" I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed..

Suddenly, I heard a sound-someone jumping through the window. My heart skipped a beat. Fear gripped me, and I was about to scream when someone swiftly covered my mouth.
I turned to see who it was, and it was Rudra. He was standing so close that I could feel his breath. His intense eyes were locked onto mine with a deep, unspoken emotion. For a moment, I could sense something stirring within him. But just as quickly, it was as if a switch flipped in his mind. He pulled his hands away, stepping back, leaving me feeling strangely cold at the loss of his warmth.
After a few moments, he looked toward me. I was already flustered from our earlier encounter.
"So, what were you doing?" he asked.
"Umm... trying to light the chulha," I said.
He glanced at the chulha and chuckled slightly.
"This isn't how you do it," he said with a hint of amusement. He corrected my setup, pouring a little kerosene from a small bottle onto the wood, then struck a matchstick to ignite it."Umm... I will cut the vegetables," he offered.
"No, it's okay. I'll do it," I replied, not wanting him to get involved.
"Don't worry. I know how to cook," he reassured me.
"No, please," I insisted, knowing that if anyone saw him here in the kitchen with me, it could easily become a big issue.
