Chapter 22
As the wedding came to an end, Rudra and Shivika rose from the mandap, ready to step down. Just then, Aaparna ji and Suhashini ji arrived, guiding Shivika toward her room as she slipped away amidst the bustling festivities.
Rudra stood nearby, searching for his shoes but finding nothing. He maintained a calm demeanor as Aashika and Aakriti approached him, their eyes gleaming with mischief.
"What are you looking for?" they teased.
Rudra glanced at them, the ritual flashing through his mind. He knew he couldn't escape it now.
Before he could respond, Kartik, Abhinav, Anirudh, and Ruhanika joined the gathering. Vidyut came along too and added, "Rudra you don't have to pay for your shoes because we have them!"
Rudra simply nodded, his expression relaxed.
"Do not lie!" Aakriti protested, her eyes narrowing playfully. "We have the shoes! If you want them back, you'll need to pay up!"
"What's the price?" Aashika asked, leaning in closer, a teasing smile on her face.
"Fifty-one thousand rupees!" Aakriti exclaimed dramatically.
Kartik's eyes widened in shock. "What? With that, we could buy fifty pairs of shoes!"
Abhinav chimed in, "Yeah, fifty pairs! Why would you pay that much for just one?"
Aashika shrugged, a playful glint in her eye. "But these shoes are special! They were worn on the wedding day, and you can't find them anywhere else."
Anirudh scoffed, "What's the use of wearing them? They're not going to be wearable anywhere after the wedding"
"Oh, you know so much, right?" Aakriti retorted, crossing her arms. "You're not even married yet!"
"No, but I've never seen people wear such shoes at events other than their weddings," Anirudh replied, defending himself.
Just then, Ruhanika interjected, "Don't waste time! Kartik bhaiya, why don't you just give the shoes to Rudra bhai sa?"
Aakriti and Aashika couldn't suppress their laughter. "What shoes do you have? I think I have the shoes!" Aashika exclaimed, lifting her lehenga slightly to reveal a pair.
Kartik and Anirudh burst into laughter as they recognized the shoes. Rudra couldn't help but chuckle, as they weren't his shoes.
Kartik, still chuckling, said, "I think you stole my shoes! They're not even special, considering I wore them to my friend's wedding!"
Suddenly, it clicked for Aashika and Aakriti, and they turned red with embarrassment. "Oh my goodness! It was his shoes!" they gasped in unison.
Rudra smirked, enjoying the playful banter unfolding before him.
Kartik, trying to contain his laughter, placed the shoes in front of Rudra, who slipped them on. Aashika and Aakriti stood by, watching the scene unfold with a mix of amusement and disbelief.
As Rudra stepped down from the mandap, a triumphant smile spread across his face. He looked at Aashika and Aakriti, relishing his small victory. The two girls exchanged amused glances, a hint of embarrassment coloring their cheeks as they began to walk away.
"Wait!" Rudra called out, halting their departure.
"What now?" they replied, turning back with playful annoyance.
"Anirudh, call kaka sa?" Rudra said, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
Moments later, his kakasa arrived, a curious expression on his face. "Yes, yes, beta. What do you need?"
