We are well into February, just past Valentine's Day and Sebastian has been away since February the 2nd. He's in Alabama filming the devil all the time with Tom Holland and other amazing people. Of course we've been missing him like crazy, we often are at Georgeta for dinner, especially on the weekends and we try to spend as much time as we can outside to distract ourselves. What I didn't know when I woke up today was that this was gonna be a particularly hard day...
"Leo come on we'll be late!" I call for the fifth time from the kitchen "Ugh...I'm ready" he whispers finally coming done the stairs "Can we go?" "Yeah..." "What's wrong?" I ask kneeling down as I adjust the laces on his shoes "Nothing..." "You can talk with mommy baby" "Mhm" Ok someone is not in the mood today... We get in the car and after a few minutes we reach his school. I get out, grab his backpack and let him out of his car seat, then together we walk to the door "No" he says as I'm about to open the door "Amore what's wrong today?" "I don't want to" "You don't want to go to school?" "No" "Why not, did something happen at school?" I ask somewhat worried "No..." "Then why don't you want to go? You always have fun" "I don't want to!" He screams throwing his bag to the ground "Baby we don't throw things...talk with mommy..." I ask him getting to his level "I don't want to go!" He says screaming again "Why?" "I want daddy and I don't want to go to school!!!" "Ok, I miss dad too baby, but he's working and you know you can call him whenever you want to" "But he's not here!" "I want dad!" He says now completely sobbing "I know amore, I know. I'm sorry you're so upset" "Mhm" I pull him to my chest and rub his back trying to comfort him "I'm not sure we can do anything about this but mommy will try ok? But now mommy needs you to be a brave boy and get to school ok? I'll come pick you up as soon as I'm done, I'm not letting you stay till the afternoon ok?" "Yeah" "Can you give mommy a kiss?" He nods and kisses my cheek and I sweetly kiss his head and wipe his tears away before walking him to his teacher and letting him go. God...what am I gonna do?

Once I reached my school I grabbed all my things and rushed to class. "Morning guys sorry if I'm late...rough morning..." "It's ok Ms Bianchi" "Yeah don't worry!" I explained to them what today's lesson was gonna be about and we proceeded with our morning in a very smooth way. "Ok class! Tempo scaduto..." (time's up) "you can finish this on Friday!" I just have the time to reorganize my stuff when Sebastian calls me "Hey doll!" "Hi..." "What's wrong?" Ending my call with him I get ready for my next and last class of the day. The hour and a half doesn't seem to go by, but then finally I dismissed the kids, grabbed my stuff and went back to Leo. I enter his school and I'm immediately called by his teacher "We were right about to call you Ms Bianchi..." she tells me "Oh...what happened?" "He cried again, so hard that he mad himself sick...he puked..." "Oh gosh...I'm sorry..." "It's ok. I know how this feels, I'm a mom too and my husband also is frequently away for work and stays away for long periods of time. I get it, I really do. But it's no problem, and Leo is a smart kid, he'll understand" "Yeah...it's not the first time Sebastian is away for work but it is the first time Leo reacts this way" "It's because he grew more attached to him..." Once I've got Leo and we're back home, changed and cuddled up on the couch I manage to FaceTime Sebastian, and he answered after the first ring. "Hello family" he says "caught me at a good time, I'm on a break!" "Hi!" "Hey baby..." "Hi dad" "I miss you so much buddy" "I want to be with you" "I know buddy, and believe me I really want to be with you too. But I have to work...and I know my job is really different from mommy's job, but this is how it is. I promise you I'll never skip a face time and if I have even two days where I'm not needed here I'll catch the first flight back to New York ok?" "Yeah" "The time will fly by baby, I promise" "Ok!" "Can you give daddy a big smile?" I watch as Leo smiles big, a true smile this time, at his father and makes me melt a little "A kiss?" Leo sends Sebastian a big kiss and smiles again "Thank you" he says sending a kiss back "I love you Leo!" "I love you too daddy!" "Can you be a brave boy?" "Yes! Like Bucky and Cap!" "I think that's good enough buddy! What do you say if tomorrow during our call I have a special guest?" "Who?" He asks curiously "Only time will tell bud" "Ok!" "Ok...give a kiss from me to mommy and one to Bear too ok?" "Yup!" And accordingly Bear barks a couple of times "Thank you! Love you both" "Love you too" I say right before closing the call
I put down my phone and bring Leo even closer to me and Bear gets on the couch "Feeling better?" "Yeah" "Is your tummy ok now?" "Yup...I'm sorry mommy" "It's ok baby. We just wanted you to understand...it's ok to have bad days ok, you are allowed to have bad days, just remember you can always talk with mommy and daddy about it" "Ok mommy" "I love you amore mio!" (My love) "Love you too mamma!" (Mom)
