A month had passed since Jungwon's wedding day, and life had become a whirlwind. His university finals were closing in fast, demanding every ounce of focus.

At the same time, he’d been recruited by Under Armour for a major modeling campaign as their sales skyrocketed — a rare opportunity that meant grueling hours of shoots and brand meetings.

On top of it all, the friendly soccer match against Heeseung’s university was fast approaching, and he was nervous. This was no ordinary match; it would be aired on national television and mark the beginning of selections for the Korea Republic team.

Many football fans already putting bet on players from both teams and it only make it worse for Jungwon's emotion.

For Jungwon, it felt like every facet of his life was pulling him in different directions, and it was all converging into an overwhelming burden.

During practice, their coach Dongwon gathered the team to remind them about the upcoming friendly match. Heeseung’s university team was known for their strength, and everyone felt the pressure.

Jake finally broke the silence, voicing what they all felt. "Is it okay if I say that I'm actually scared about playing against Heeseung's team?" He muttered.

Sunoo nodded in agreement. "It’s understandable. They’re a powerful team, especially Heeseung. But it doesn’t mean we can’t put up a good fight."

Jay chimed in with an update. "Did you guys hear about the Korea Republic selection?"

Jungwon’s eyes sharpened with interest. "What about it?"

“They’re not forming the team from just one university. They’ll be picking top players from both our team and Heeseung’s. So, it’s not about our teams going head-to-head, but who can stand out individually.”

Everyone went quiet, the weight of Jay’s words settling over them. The competition wasn’t just about the school rivalry anymore; it was about their futures. For the rest of practice, they threw themselves into training, running drills under the fading sunlight. Hours later, exhausted and drained, they trudged home.

When Jungwon finally walked through his front door, he collapsed on the couch, drifting into a deep, unplanned nap.

...

A loud slam jolted him awake. His heart skipped as he groggily sat up and saw Sana standing in the doorway, her expression anything but pleased. It hit him: he’d promised to pick her up but had completely forgotten.

Her irritation was palpable as she went into the kitchen, noisily grabbing and slamming cupboards as she rummaged for a snack. Her movements were aggressive, and it didn’t take long for the noise to grate on Jungwon’s already frayed nerves.

He called out from the couch, “What’s wrong with you? Can you calm down?”

She spun around, practically fuming. “Calm down? I waited there for almost an hour looking like an idiot while you were here sleeping!”

He ran a hand through his hair, already weary of the argument. “I’m tired, Sana. I had training all day. You don’t believe me? Ask my friends; I bet they won’t even answer because we’re all exhausted.”

“Yeah? Well, maybe you shouldn’t have promised to pick me up in the first place!” She snapped back, voice rising.

“I was asleep! I didn’t forget on purpose. Do you have any idea how much I have going on right now?”

She sighed, rolling her eyes. “You know what? Forget it.” With that, she stormed off, slamming their bedroom door shut.

For a moment, he thought about letting it go, but as he lay back down, guilt gnawed at him. He knew he’d messed up. He wasn’t ready to apologize outright, but he also didn’t want to leave things on a sour note.
