As soon as Aizawa dismissed the class for lunch, Y/N’s best friend Tomo immediately headed for her desk, exuding a casual confidence that bordered on possessiveness. Without hesitation, Tomo wrapped her arms around Y/N, pulling her into a tight hug. Y/N, much shorter than Tomo, gave a playful pout as she hugged back.

“You’re even taller than before!” Y/N complained, rolling her eyes while Tomo smirked.

“Guess someone’s just stayed too short,” Tomo teased, ruffling Y/N’s hair like she always did.

Before Y/N could retort, her other childhood friends, Junichiro, Misuzu, and Kai, joined them with grins and warm greetings. They each took turns hugging her, voices full of excitement as they caught up, asking about her time at UA and how she’d been. For a moment, it felt like the old days again, with Y/N surrounded by the people she’d grown up with. She could feel herself relaxing more than she had in a long time.

But not everyone was thrilled. Bakugo, watching from nearby, scowled as he saw Tomo grab Y/N’s hand and refuse to let go, especially when Tomo would occasionally throw Bakugo a smirk. Bakugo clenched his fists, irritated, and felt an unfamiliar jealousy bubbling up as Tomo held Y/N’s hand all the way to the cafeteria.

Once they were all seated for lunch, the conversation quickly turned lively. Midoriya, ever-curious, looked at Tomo with a small frown. “Um, Tomo, I was wondering—why did you call Y/N ‘Mafia Queen’ earlier?” he asked innocently.

At that, Y/N froze, her eyes widening in mild panic as her friends exchanged quick glances. Misuzu, catching on quickly, shot Tomo a sharp look and smacked her on the head. “Ow!” Tomo yelped, rubbing the spot.

“It’s just a nickname I gave her when we were kids,” Misuzu said smoothly, flashing a quick smile. “Y/N was always so strong-willed and determined, so we just started calling her that for fun.”

Midoriya nodded thoughtfully, buying the explanation without further question. “Oh, I see! That makes sense,” he said, scribbling something in his notebook.

Y/N sighed, relieved her friends were quick to cover up any suspicions. She appreciated how they had all noticed her hesitancy to share the truth with her new classmates and were willing to help her keep it hidden. Her mission was something she needed to handle alone for now, without drawing unnecessary attention to herself.

Meanwhile, Tomo hadn’t let go of Y/N’s hand, and her playful flirting only increased. “You know, Y/N, you’ve gotten even cuter since we last met,” Tomo teased with a wink, gently squeezing her hand.

Y/N gave a small, embarrassed laugh, trying to brush it off. “Oh, stop it.”

But Bakugo, who had been watching this exchange with a glare, felt his patience running thin. He clenched his jaw, crossing his arms with a scoff. Every time Tomo flirted or whispered something to Y/N, Bakugo’s scowl deepened, his irritation clear to everyone around him.

Seeing Bakugo’s reaction, Mina leaned over and whispered to him with a teasing grin. “You jealous, Bakugo?”

“Tch. Of course not,” he muttered, looking away, though his red-tinted cheeks betrayed him.

Tomo, noticing Bakugo’s frustration, smirked even wider, clearly enjoying getting a rise out of him. All the while, Y/N was completely oblivious, too engrossed in the fun with her friends to notice the subtle competition brewing between her best friend and Bakugo.

The lunch continued with laughter and stories from the past, and Y/N felt a warmth she hadn’t felt in years. She had her childhood friends here, her new friends from UA, and—for the first time in a long time—she allowed herself to feel happy, almost forgetting the mission that awaited her.
