MILES POV:
I thought today would be a nice day. When Grace called me that afternoon. I had this feeling of butterflies in my stomach and it's weird for me because I haven't had this feeling in years and to be honest I'm not the romantic type.
But Grace is different, she makes me feel different, she awakens something in me that I didn't even know I had in me anymore. With her I forget everything around me for a moment and can feel free.
At that moment, when I was walking down to the sea with Grace and we were laughing together, everything was perfect for a few seconds until Grace ruined the mood.
At first I can't believe what she's just telling me. She is engaged and lives with him. I can't believe I just ruined a relationship. Even if it's not my fault; because I would never have met Grace if I had known she had a fiancé.
I also don't want to make her fiancé feel the pain that I felt when I saw my fiancée lying in our bed with my co-worker. I take a few steps back as Grace tries to explain the situation but there is nothing left for me to explain here.
"Miles please can we talk. I need you! I don't know what else to do, I can only talk to you and no one else."
"If you want to talk to someone, go to a therapist. I am not your therapist." With these words I leave Grace. I didn't mean those words but I couldn't help it. Grace hurt me, she lied to me.
I don't know where to go. I swore to myself that after breaking up with my fiancée I would never allow these feelings again, but I did it again. I let myself go again. I hardly know Grace but she still captivated me.
What did she call me Grumpy cat? I think I only became this person because I was abandoned or hurt by people I trusted and opened up to over and over again.
I've been driving around for a few hours now and my eyes are starting to get heavier. Finally I go home and come to my house, which is far too big and always far too quiet.
I throw my keys on the counter and listen to all the calls I've gotten for the first time today. My best friend Carlos called me several times. I look at the clock and decide to call him back.
After a few seconds he answers it and loud music is playing in the background. "Hii buddy!? Where have you been all this time? I called you several times but nothing came back from you?"
"I'm sorry, Carl, but I'm not feeling well today." I tried to lie but to be honest it's not a lie but the truth. "You can't lie to me, Miles. "You met a girl today who dumped you, right?"
I always ask myself how Carlos knows how I'm really feeling and what's really going on in my life. "I guess I can't lie to you anyway, you see through everything too well."
"That's why I became a lawyer. Nobody can lie to me so quickly without me noticing." I laughed slightly, not knowing at the time that Carlos is a colleague of Grace's.
"How about it? Would you like to come here and have a little celebration and forget your sorrows?" I shook my head even though Carlos can't see me.
"I don't think that's a good idea, I'm really tired and should go to sleep." But Carlos doesn't let up. "There's no no broo here, come here."
After several discussions, Carlos finally convinced me to come to the party. There's a lot going on here and at least half of it, if not more, I don't know and have never seen in my life.
I can hear Carlos calling my name from far away and I run through the crowd to him. "I'm glad you made it, you should stop sitting at home alone like an old man and feeling sorry for yourself!"
"I don't feel sorry for myself Carlos." He just starts to laugh and shakes his head. "It's clear you're lying to yourself again here. Come on, just let yourself go and enjoy the party, okay?"
I just nodded slightly and got myself a drink. I looked around a bit and checked out who was at the party. My eyes stop when I see a picture hanging above the fireplace. This girl sitting next to Carlos is Grace!
"Carlos?!" I looked for him because I wanted to know how he knew Grace and why he had never told me anything about her before.
