Usopp's POV
Saphira groans as she felt my hand shaking her shoulder. I watch as her eyes squint open and frown up at me. "What do you want?" I cringed at her sleepy voice and the glare she was giving me. "Sheesh, Winifred was right. You are a grump in the morning." She groans and untangled herself from her cocoon of blankets. She groans even more at the cold morning air. "Sorry for waking ya, but I need your help. Please?" She grumbles under her breath as she got to her feet.
"Make me coffee before I kill you." I scratched behind my head in nervousness as I watches her walk up the stairs. "Does this mean you'll help?" I quickly rushed up the stairs and follow her to the kitchen. I watch her take a seat by the table, arms crossed and glaring at nothing in particular. Her silence was unnerving, so I silently started making her coffee. "How do you like your coffee?" I didn't dare turn around and kept my eyes on the kettle. I could feel her eyes burning into my back.
'Damn it, Winifred! This isn't a grumpy person, this is a murderous person in the morning!' I almost jump out of my skin when she spoke up, "Strong, two spoons of sugar, little bit of milk." Her choppy attitude made me swallow in nervousness. I work quickly to make her coffee and shakily put it in front of her. I sweat a bit at her glare as she took a sip of her coffee. Her glare flicked to me, making my knees start to tremble. "H-How is it? Is it to your liking?" The longer she glared at me and kept quiet, the more my knees started to wobble.
'I made it how she asked me to! Did I somehow messed up?! No, I'm sure I did it right!' After a few moments, her eyes went back to glaring at the table as she took small sips from her coffee. I sigh in relief, almost dropping to the floor when my knees went weak. I sit down in front of her, trying not to make it obvious I was studying her. My eyes were looking around in the kitchen, every once and a while, I'd glance at her. 'How can someone be so terrifying in the morning?! The morning her and the during the day normal her is so different!' I glance at her again when she took another sip from her coffee.
I actually realized from the beginning that she can become a terrifying person. She's usually calm, keeping mostly to herself, but would help out when need be. It's her facial expressions that make it obvious what she's thinking. She doesn't hide it, probably doesn't care if someone noticed either. You can tell in what mood she is easily by looking at her. She acts unbothered by a lot of things, but I can see the fire burning in her eyes. She wants to lash out, to bite back. But, I also noticed the fear in her eyes too. Especially when she believes she can't win. Doubt is a heavy thing on her shoulders, and I think I'm not the only one who noticed it.
Even so, she has a fierce anger beneath her skin. I saw it light in her eyes a few times before, but every time I think she would draw her blades to attack, her fire would go out and be replaced by fear. She hates confrontations, that's obvious. But, I can tell she wants so badly to defend, to argue, and fight back. Something is holding her back. What that is, I don't know. Winifred, although I've known her for a short while, I could tell doesn't feel shame for anything she says or do. She doesn't hide anything and feel confident in the things she does. So unlike her older sister. Yet, they balance each other out. Makes me wonder how their other sister is like?
"So, you needed my help with something?" I jumped in my seat when she suddenly spoke up. I cough in my hand before clearing my throat, "Y-Yeah, mind helping me with repairing the ship?" I watch as she stands up, empty mug in hand, and walked to the sink of the kitchen. I blink when she walked passed me to the door, "No." I was up and out my chair, right behind her. "W-Wait! Please, it would go faster if we-" I pause in my plea as she walks towards the tools and planks of wood I put out to repair the broken railing of the Going Mary. I blink in confusion as she picked up a hammer. "But, you said no..." She shrugs her shoulders as she picks up a plank next. "Did I?"
