Saphira's POV
My body felt heavy. It feels like someone is sitting on my chest. And my head, it was like my heart and brain switched places. It was horrible. Every breath I took burned, my lungs vibrating at every exhale. Something felt wrong here. There was a trobbing pain in both my arms. I tried to remember, what put me in such a state, but I can't come up with anything. It was bothering me greatly. Like something was amiss, like someone stole something from me. But what it is, I can't seem to figure out.
"How... doing.....?" Someone's talking, it sounded right next to me, but it was hard to tell. There was a ringing in my ears, making it hard to hear anything. I tried to open my eyes, but even they feel heavy. Like they were glued together. I can't seem to do anything, my body isn't responding. This makes me panic. My breathing became more erratic. 'What's wrong with me?!'
The people in the room notice her change in breathing and quickly came closer to assist her. Her panicking increased when she felt cold hands touching her. "Calm....grab the...syringe. " Someone shouted above her, but the speech was broken and she couldn't make out what else they were saying. Hands were holding her down, the pain in her arms increased tenfold. She wanted to scream at them, but found it impossible to even open her mouth, only small whimpers and groans would escape. "Hurry." Someone else shouted above me, the voice sounded familiar to her, but I couldn't figure out who it could be.
I felt a small pinch on my neck. I winched and started trashing around a bit more, something I regret doing when the pain in my arms got worse. It didn't take long for the drug to start working. My head felt fuzzy, my limbs becoming heavy and numb. I wanted to fight back more, but find myself unable to. Finally, darkness swallowed my conscious again, bringing me to a dreamless slumber. The people above me sighed in relief.
...
When I came to again, it was dark outside. I can't really tell if it's night time or not, I just took a guess from how dark the room was. I tiredly moved my eyes around the room, examining it. The curtains are drawn closed and the lights are turned off, making it hard to see anything in the room but the dark silhouettes of the furniture.
I remember the people of before, they weren't here in the room now, but it didn't stop my anxiety from rising. I tried to calm myself by taking in deep breathes, in and out, until I felt the shaking go away. 'I need to escape, but first, I need to figure out what's going on'. I slowly started rising from the bed, but when I tried to use my arms to push myself up, I fell back down. I was shocked and confused for a moment, staring at the ceiling. 'What the...?' I looked down to my arms, wondering if my arms were asleep. I sucked in a sharp breath.
I raised my bandaged stumps in front of me. My eyes widen in horror. I was hyperventilating, my breathing coming out in short shaky puffs. 'What did they do to me?!' I shook my head before struggling again to get off the bed. I was twisting my body around and trying to swing my legs off the bed. Once my feet touched the floor, I used my shoulders and hips to catapult myself off the bed. I stumbled unsteadily on my feet, not having my usual balance. My knees gave out on me and I collapsed on the floor.
I groaned in pain for my chin was the first to hit the floor, without arms to stop the fall, the landing was obviously going to be painful. The noises I made captured the attention of the people on the other side of the door. I struggled to get back up, I would have found this funny because I probably looked like a wiggling worm right now, but the circumstances didn't call for it. The door to the room swung open, and I froze. There standing at the doorway was the mayor of Watermelon town. He was staring down at me with obvious shock on his face.
"Mayor?" My voice cracked as I strained my neck to look up at the man. "What are you doing out of bed?" The man came out of his shock and quickly bend down to help me. "I don't understand, what's going on?" I asked as I let the mayor carry me back to the bed I worked so hard to get out of. "Hold on, I'll answer all your questions, but right now I have to get the doctor to come check on you." He said, laying me down gently before running out the door. It wasn't long before he returned with the town's doctor; I realized it was the same old lady, Belinda, if I remember correctly.
Dr. Belinda just gave me a smile and started with my examination. I was just as quite as I let the old lady do her thing. The mayor left the room to give us some privacy. After a minute or two, the doctor declared me fine and left the room. Right after, the mayor came back and took the seat where the doctor sat a moment ago. He cleared his throat, "Well, go ahead, and ask your questions.'' He said uncomfortably when he saw that I was just staring at him blankly.
I took a deep breath, ''What happened? How did I end up here? I don't even remember...'' I was fighting back tears. The mayor lifts his hand, a gesture for me to stop. ''Calm yourself, it's alright. I'll sit here and answer all your question and clear up your confusion.'' He spoke softly, ''Now, for your first question, I have no clear answer for. I don't know how this happened to you.'' He started, but lifted his hand again to stop me before I could speak, ''And for your second question, I brought you here when we found you at the port.'' He answered. 'The port!' I finally remembered.
I sat up straight and looked the mayor in the eyes, it unnerved the man. ''The ships! Did they get away?'' I quickly asked. ''Yes they did, unfortunately only two ships seemed to have survived the attack.'' The man frowned, before slumping forward in his chair, his arms on his knees. I relaxed a bit at the news; I know of the two ships, I also know that both my sisters were on those ships. I sighed before asking another question, ''What happens now? Where are we anyway?'' I looked to the mayor again. He sat up right again before answering her, ''We're still on Melon island, and we are currently in one of the warehouses near the port.'' He started, ''There are some of our people out right now searching for a ship or boat that wasn't destroyed.'' He seemed finished when he stood up and walked towards the door. ''Hey, wait! You said you'd answer all my questions. I'm not done yet.'' I said after him, he stopped at the door before turning to look at her again. ''One more question, I'm sorry, but I really need to go and help the others and you need to rest.'' He was waiting. I sighed before asking the important question, the question that was bothering her greatly. ''Where did those ships go? My sisters are on those ships.'' I asked, the man nodded his head in understanding and seemed relieved at the news that they made it. ''If the captains haven't lost their way, they should be at Logue Town by now. We're leaving soon to join them.'' He explained then looked at me again, when I nodded my head in thanks the man finally left the room.
I layed back down and heaved a tired breath, I was going through all the information in my head. I know now that my sisters are safe and that it won't be long before I reunite with them again, at this Logue Town place the mayor spoke of. Now that I think about it, the name Logue Town sounds fimiliar. A frown was on my face. 'Isn't that town where the pirate king, Gold Roger, was executed?' I questioned myself. I remember that the marine forces there are strong and that there is a captain with devil fruit powers there, according to what I heard. That's good to know. Sort of.
As I lay here for a while, listening to the noises outside my room, it wasn't long before my eye lids became heavy. I don't understand how I can still be tired after how many times I woke up after being knocked out, twice! After a minute or so of me just laying there and nothing happening, I finally gave up on fighting sleep and closed my eyes. I must have been really tired; it didn't even take a second before I was dreaming of things that happened nights before the pirate attack.
