Sitting alone in the cell, Namjoon's mind drifted to each of his siblings, his heart aching at the thought of their faces clouded with worry and doubt. He thought of Jin first, his eldest brother, who had always been a steady, guiding presence in their lives. Jin had been there through every hardship, always ready to lead, to protect. And yet, today, even he had seemed uncertain, struggling to understand the truth behind what happened. The doubt in Jin's eyes had hurt the most, piercing through Namjoon like a knife.
Then there was Yoongi, his quiet but sharp brother, who had been suspicious of Joo-young from the very beginning. Yoongi had warned him time and time again, cautioning him to keep his distance, to be careful. And now, with Namjoon locked up, he knew Yoongi must be feeling both hurt and frustrated, torn between his instincts and his loyalty. Yoongi's trust, which he never gave easily, now seemed fragile, and Namjoon regretted not heeding his warnings.
He thought of Hoseok, his bright-spirited, warm-hearted favorite brother, the one who always knew how to lift him up, even in his darkest moments. Hoseok had been a light in his life, his energy and optimism infectious, but even Hoseok had looked broken, his usual smile replaced with a troubled frown. Namjoon knew that, deep down, Hoseok wanted to believe him, but the situation weighed heavily on him, leaving a sadness in his eyes that Namjoon wished he could take away.
Then came Jimin and Taehyung, the twins, both inseparably close to Namjoon. They'd shared countless memories, late-night talks, laughter, and secrets that only the three of them knew. Jimin's caring nature and Taehyung's loyalty had always been constants in Namjoon's life. But now, that closeness felt strained. He could see the confusion in their faces, their torn expressions as they tried to understand what had happened. Knowing they were struggling to trust him shattered him, like a bond he'd taken for granted was slipping away.
Jungkook, the youngest, had always looked up to him, considering Namjoon a role model, someone to emulate. He'd followed Namjoon's every word, eager to learn and grow under his guidance. But now, Jungkook had looked at him with a pain that he'd never seen before, the hurt of a younger brother who felt let down by someone he admired. Namjoon felt like he was losing the respect that Jungkook had held for him, and it was devastating.
And then there was YN, his precious "Cutie," the one he'd loved and protected since the day she came in her life. Her silence in the cell had been the hardest to bear, her usually bright eyes clouded with confusion and sadness. He'd always been her safe place, her protector, and now, seeing that trust falter in her gaze was like a weight pressing down on his heart. He wanted to reach out, to reassure her, but he felt the distance growing, as if he'd let her down in the worst way possible.
Sitting there, Namjoon realized that, as much as he needed to clear his own name, he needed to restore the faith his family had in him. The thought that they might believe he was capable of something so dark, something so violent, was a pain he hadn't been prepared for. In that moment, more than anything, he wished he could prove to them, to each of them, that he was still the brother they knew, the one who loved them with all his heart.
