The blue screens in front of him appeared one after another before he could even chant the magic's name. Just the thought of using it was enough to make the blue screens in front of him appear.

The monsters hidden behind the screens imploded and burnt to a crisp respectively. Only bloody chucks hit the magic barrier he surrounded himself with.

"The 'System'....?"

It wasn't like anything he'd ever seen before. His hand passed right through it and was only disposable by a function in it's upper right corner that contained an X, the other corner looked like it had a gear.

Explosions and the toppling of trees rung out from where he stood as he casted magic easily. The System certainly made it easier to use magic.

If a mage had to guide their mana through each imaginative process to the spell's name to activate it, now the System acted as a guide to a spell's name after a mage just inputs some mana. It was a terrifyingly fast method.

It was also the same method that allowed millions to die when it suddenly disappeared one day. Mages that only knew how to be mana generators quickly died off.

As a thing that was always in history the people naturally assumed it was something given by the Goddess Siesta. If not, something natural for the world to have at its core.

But that wasn't true at all. The last hero it summoned said as much. It was a sentient being that one day decided to leave mankind behind.

"Did you see it?"

The stupid hero next to him glanced over at Rodrick as he swiped the blood off his face. The shining silver sword in his hand dripped similar blood onto the ground with a trail being made.

"I've tried multiple spells and it even knows the names of spells I've never chanted before."

Was the System the Goddess Siesta herself? Omnipotent, omnipresent, and all-knowing? If it was that simple historians now wouldn't be questioning if it's sentience even existed.

More spells, more death, more screens. The monotonous killing of monsters was starting to bore him, but the orders held by Ainsley was to stall their advance without the intent of annihilation.

Speaking of Ainsley, there was his message signal just now. The magic he'd spread across the academy's campus cut off unessential pieces of itself from the walls and ceiling to gather and create a vague form.

It was a crude and secretive method, but it was effective for the two brothers. It wasn't easy to tamper with information sending if it came from a part of a person's soul, their mana, after all.

"There's a change in plans. The academy has been attacked. Finish off everything there and come back quickly."

The smug smirk on Rodrick's face instantly fell as he received the information. His face darkened as an annoyed expression led to an exasperated sigh coming out of his mouth.
