- Later That Same Night.

"Have you given any more thought about that trip out to Mexico?". Cedar hesitantly asked as he and Owen were cooking dinner together.

"I have". Owen replied as he took a baking sheet of roasted broccoli out of the oven.

"And?". Cedar hesitantly prodded as he dished up two plates of trout with the broccoli.

"I think we should go". Owen replied as he and Cedar sat down at the kitchen table.

"For real?". Cedar asked with a grin as he took a bit of trout.

"Absolutely, I got a letter from Gracie and her husband Dylan last week and they're eager to meet you". Owen replied with a laugh.

"How did they know where to find you?". Cedar asked in confusion.

"I got in contact with one of my more friendly Firefly friends and they delivered the letter for me". Owen replied.

"I traded Dr.Morino for a horse earlier today, she's a thoroughbred called Willow". Cedar replied around his mouthful of broccoli.

"We still have two months until we leave, don't get too excited". Owen teased.

"How long do you think we should stay for?". Cedar asked.

"I'd say a week". Owen decided. "It'll give us plenty of time to bond with Connor".

"And if all goes well, what do you think about taking Connor back home with us?". Cedar asked somewhat hesitantly.

"I like your enthusiasm sweetheart but let's maybe take it one day at a time okay?". Owen suggested gently.

"Y - Yeah totally, sorry". Cedar replied, his cheeks going red from embarrassment.

Owen cleared both of their plates and extended his hand for Cedar to take. "C'mon".

"Where are we going?". Cedar asked as Owen led him down the hallway.

"I figured that since we have a spare bedroom right next to us, It could be the baby's bedroom when they're born". Owen replied as he led Cedar into the bare bedroom.

"It's gonna need some repairs though". Cedar replied, noting the chipped paint and broken ceiling light.

"Tommy and Joel already have us covered". Owen replied. "They're gonna fix everything up while we're in Mexico".

"I thought I was supposed to be the one in nesting mode?". Cedar asked with a giggle even as he felt his anxiety bubbling in his stomach.

"Hey, I have a full vision here, It's gonna be great". Owen remarked with a wink.

"I'm not sure how I feel about either of them standing on a step ladder to fix that ceiling light considering Tommy's partially blind and Joel's got a bum knee". Cedar remarked with a wince.

"Tony said he'll supervise them". Owen replied with a grin, frowning when he saw Cedar leaning against the wall and rubbing his hands along his arms. "What's wrong?".

Cedar sniffed and shook his head. "Nothing, It's just - As each day goes by the doubts about properly raising this baby are getting worse".

"Hey, you're the strongest person I know alright?". Owen said as he brought his partner into a careful hug. "You can do this, both of us can".

"What if I can't be strong this time?". Cedar replied tearfully, mentally scolding himself for feeling so scared and helpless.

"If you're that unsure, what if we gave the baby up after they're born?". Owen suggested carefully.
