I wake up extra early today; I have to make sure I make it to the coffee shop to talk to Danielle.
I'm so nervous that my palms are sweating, and my anxiety is at the highest it can be. I hope Danielle understands everything.
I take a deep breath before closing my car door.
I open the door to the coffee shop, and there she is, waiting at the table we first sat at the first time we came here together.
I sit down across from her and take a deep breath.
She sighs. "Hurry up. We've got to be at work in thirty minutes."
"Okay, I'm not even with Aniyah anymore. She left for her other movie." I take a deep breath. "It wasn't a real-"
"Oh, so just because she got another role for a movie, that means you have to break up with her?" she scoffs.
"Uhm, no. That's not what happened. Allison suggested that we start a f-"
"Oh, great!" she exclaims. "Allison was part of this as well. She's the one that set you both up."
"Well, yes, but I'm trying to tell you what happened."
"I know what happened, y'all started dating, and then you broke up because she got a movie somewhere else, and you didn't want to try to make long-distance work."
"Wait, What? No, no, no. That's not what happened. You aren't even letting me explain. You keep interrupting me."
"Sorry," she sighs
"Anyway, Allison said that the publicist for the movie said that a fake relationship with Aniyah would be a good idea and gain publicity for the movie because she's so popular."
"Wait, that entire relationship was fake?!" She exclaims.
"Yes, but you never gave me a chance to tell you," I say with a sigh. "I'm so sorry."
"I'm sorry I acted this way. It wasn't even a big deal. You started dating somebody," she sighs. "I don't know why that sent me into a mental breakdown."
"I should've told you, even if it was just through a message."
"I'm sorry, like so so sorry" She takes a deep breath. "I can't believe I went on a date with my ex-boyfriend just to spite you."
"Wait- that was your ex?!"
"Yes, it went well, but it was awkward... for me at least. He didn't know it was just for revenge" She laughs. "I've been leaving all his messages on read because I don't know how to explain that I just wanted to go on a date to spite the guy that I lik-"
"The guy that you what?" I smirk
"The guy I like, it's not a secret anymore, look how I acted" she chuckles, but she looks embarrassed.
"Friends?" She asks
"Friends? You just admitted that you like me."
"Well, I don't know if you like me back," she says.
"I thought it was kind of obvious. But, of course, I like you too."
For a few moments our eyes locked together, staring right at each other, the sounds of coffee machines and people talking in the background, but we didn't focus on anything but each other.
