what happened here

Billie's pov-

I saw two ambulance cars in her driveway and knew some shit had happened. I jumped out my car running to one of the EMT's.

"Hey, do you know what happened here?" I said yelling over the sirens. 

"The girl living here overdosed." He wrote something on a clipboard and walked away. 

Overdosed? 

I ran after him. "Wait what? Where is she?" 

He ignored me and hopped in the back of the van. 

I ran inside the front door looking for Rio's mom. She was grabbing her purse and drinking out of an alcohol bottle. 

"Where's Rio? Is she okay?"

"Does it look like shes okay? There's ambulance in my front yard."

The fucking nerve this lady had. I decided to keep my composure and not get agitated. 

"I'm sorry Ms. Toledo. I know she's not okay but where is she?"

"She's in the back of the damn ambulance."

I nodded and ran outside to the other van.

 Then I saw her. My beautiful baby girl laying on a stretcher. She wasn't moving and her eyes were closed. My vision got blurry as tears filled my eyes.

The door was shut but I ran to the guy sitting in the front seat. 

"C-can I ride with her? In the back?" I said choking on tears. 

"You family? Cause if you ain't then no."

"No..I'm not. What hospital are you taking her to?"

"One about 10 minutes away from here. UCLA Medical Center."

I thanked him and ran to my car. If I couldn't sit in the back with her I'd just follow the vans to the hospital. I texted Finneas and briefed him on what was going on. He asked me if I wanted him to come and I said I'd let him know. 

I saw Rio's mom hop in the back with Rio and finally the vans started moving. 

I was trying not to drive recklessly but I was so nervous. Seeing Rio's body laying there like that broke my heart, but what hurt even worse was remembering our last encounter. 

"No. Get the fuck away from me. I don't wanna see you again."

I felt hot tears pouring out my eyes. I can't believe I told her that. I was the reason she relapsed. I didn't even care to let her explain to me. I fucked up. I fucked up so bad.
