Rahul stepped out of the arrivals gate at Mumbai Airport, the sound of heavy rain echoing through the terminal. He hadn't informed anyone about his arrival.
As he stepped out and looked around heart came to a standstill. He saw Aarohi
He couldn't take his eyes off her. She was at the far end of the terminal, her side profile visible against the blurred rain outside. Her long, chocolate brown hair fell in soft waves, shining a bit in the dim light.
She was on her phone, trying to call someone, not noticing anything else around her. Rahul knew it was her. How could he forget? That profile and those beautiful chocolate brown hairs were etched in his mind, something he could never let go of.
His heart started beating fastly. He couldn't stop himself from looking at her. 3 years. He was seeing her after 3 damn years. It was early morning and the rain sounds were echoing with the light wind.
Aarohi turned around her eyes scanned the terminal, searching for something or someone. Her gaze froze when it landed on him. Her breath caught.
For a moment, the bustling terminal, the rain, the noise, all faded into silence. He looked effortlessly dashing in a crisp blue coat paired with a white shirt, his broad, muscular frame exuding confidence. Tall, handsome, and as captivating as ever, he was impossible to miss. His perfectly styled hair added to his charm, though it was the single strand falling onto his forehead that gave him an irresistible allure.
Was it really him? The man she had left behind, the reason she had fled India? And now on her return, he was the first person she saw.
The phone slipped slightly in her grip, her fingers tightening reflexively. Her heart skipped a beat, confusion and disbelief swirling in her eyes.
Rahul quickly averted his gaze, but he knew it was too late she had caught him staring. He tried to recover by flashing an awkward smile.
"Hii" he greeted nervously.
It was awkward, they were close , very close but distances grew gradually making it difficult for them to even talk to each other
"Hey" Aarohi replied with a faint smile stepping slightly closer
She struggling slightly as she dragged a large suitcase behind her. A small backpack was slung over one shoulder, and she clutched a handbag in her other hand.
As she stumbled slightly on the slick floor, Rahul instinctively moved forward to steady her. Before he could reach her, she regained her balance, and he stepped back awkwardly.
"Sorry"
"Thanks" both of them mumbled nervously at the same time"Dekhao Main pakar leta hoon" he cleared his throat and offered reaching for the suitcase
"Nahi im fine" Aarohi shook her head
"Tum yahan kaise?" Aaraohi asked
"Business meeting k kiye Gaya tha Singapore"he replied simply. Aarohi nodded in acknowledgment and they lapsed into silence.
Both of them were waiting in the waiting area looking outside the sound of heavy rain echoing
"Sab kaise hain?" She finally asked breaking the silence
"Sab thek hain" Rahul replied, his gaze fixed outside avoiding her eyes.
