"Maybe the rain is our tears in the cloudiest hours, and the thunder and lightning are the sounds of our hearts breaking..."

Ella's heart raced as she drove, late one night, over to Zayn's house.

Sheets of pouring rain clouded her vision, and yes, it sacred the hell out of her.

But she hadn't seen him in a week, so she absolutely wanted to see him.

Her speed was only 40 miles per hour, not really enough to cause any harm...or so she thought.

As she went around a certain bend in the road, her tires slipped off of the gravel.

She panicked, trying desperately to get her vehicle back on the road, failing miserably.

She began to cry as she lost total control of her car, feeling the impact, when it collided with another vehicle.

She felt a sharp pain shoot through her entire body, making her cry out.

Ella tried to get out of the car, but soon realized that she wasn't getting out of this one.

Her eyes began to close, and her hearing felt like it was closing in. Almost as if she was in a tunnel.

She heard faint sirens in the distance, giving her a small amount of hope.

But the pain was unbearable.

She felt tears begin to fall from her eyes as she thought about all of the plans that she had made for her future.

Ella mustered up as much strength as she could, and took her phone from the cup holder, swallowing harshly as she put the phone up to her ear, after calling Zayn.

"Hey baby girl" Zayn answered cheerily.

"Z-Zayn" she spoke softly.

"Are you okay?" his tone had changed from happy, to scared.

"No, darling. But know, t-that I love you, a-and you're the best th-thing that has ever happened to m-me."

She closed her eyes, listening to Zayn's deep breathing on the other line.

"Where are you, Ella May?" he shouted.

She heard keys, and him running through some gravel.

"I'm not f-far from your house, a-actually" she said, laughing lightly.

She coughed several times, getting a bit of a metallic taste in her mouth.

"I'm coming baby" Zayn said.

"I love you" she whispered weakly.

"Don't you dare leave me, Ella"

"I love you"

"I love you too. So don't you dare give up now. You're so strong, and I love you. Please don't leave me."

Her hand dropped down to her chest, resting there as her strength faded.

Her head fell to the side as she continued to whisper I love you, to Zayn, unsure  that he could even hear her.

As Zayn rushed down the road, he saw police cars, ambulances, and fire trucks lighting up the night sky.

"Sir, you can't go in there" an officer tried to tell him.

Zayn rushed right past the officer, through the yellow caution tape.

Ella's breathing had long since decreased, and she was now struggling to take even a single breath.

She felt a thick, warm liquid seeping out of her mouth, and dripping off of her chin, as her labored breaths became even harder to take.

She heard the car door opening, and someone begin to shake her gently.

Her name was being called, but she couldn't respond.

She couldn't move, or speak. She was still, practically dead to the world.

"I love you, Zayn" she whispered, taking one last breath, before her eyes closed.

His heart broke as he watched her breathe her last breath.

He screamed her name, holding her hands in his, as he sobbed.

This wasn't how this was supposed to go. This wasn't supposed to happen.
