I really liked this prompt from @creatingnewthings321 Great idea! Thanks for the inspiration 🤩😘

This was a prompt from the original writing of this book. I am so glad @creatingnewthings321 is still such a huge fan of this book, I can't wait until I start writing brand new chapters to see what ideas you bring to me.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Derek's POV

Derek was working on more admission files. "Man this sucks, I'm supposed to help talk to kids about their problems? Instead all I do is paperwork and do admission evaluations" he sighed to himself.

His phone rang and it was the superintendent of the Sky Islands School "Mr.Chambers is there any chance you would meet with me today at 2pm?" Derek agreed, he was concerned about what this meeting was for.

The principal for the school Mr. Rose was at the meeting. "Derek, thank you for coming on such short notice. I'm sure you're wondering why we wanted to talk to you?"

Derek laughed nervously "it was kinda sudden. I hope this isn't more backlash over my firing. I understand I made a mistake you couldn't overlook"

Ted Simon was the superintendent. He was a very nice man as far as Derek was concerned.

"Yes you made a mistake and no this isn't some late repercussions for it. In fact it's the opposite. We should have taken into consideration how well you worked with the kids here." Ted told him

"In fact many parents and social workers have been very upset over your dismissal. We were handed a petition from a parent that asked for your reinstatement," Mr. Rose told Derek. "The parent said his son was practically flunking out until you started working with him."

"Many have commended you for helping kids turn their behavior around. So the board met and agreed to offer you your job back. Since you did not get charged with a felony we can legally rehire you without disclosure to the parents. We are willing to give you a raise for coming back" Ted Simon offered him.

Derek tried to hide his excitement. He could finally get away from the endless paperwork. "I will have to think it over and talk to my family about it. May I call you tomorrow with my answer?" He spoke professionally.

That night he told everyone about the meeting. Everyone was happy for him. After dinner Anthony knocked on Derek and Thomas door. Thomas let him in.

"Derek I really hope you will come back to the school. It's weird being there and you're not there. I am really sorry for being such a jerk lately," Anthony told him sincerely.

Derek smiled, pulling him in for a hug, "it's okay Buddy I love you."

Derek took the job and two weeks later found himself returning to his old office at the school. Thomas came in and kissed him "I'm so happy your back. I missed you"

Derek picked him up and spun him around. "I missed you too, baby. I'm so thankful to be back. I won't mess this up again. I'm so sorry for my behavior before"

Thomas kissed him again, "nothing to apologize to me for. I was as much to blame as you were."

Derek had been busy settling in all morning when Thomas stopped by again and insisted he take a lunch break.

They had just sat down at a table when Eric the music teacher spoke up. "So who did Glen Ripley pay to get you your job back?" He sneered towards Derek, taking him by surprise.
