Pain. That was all they could feel. So much pain and death. It felt like someone had buried them beneath a building, the weight suffocating them. It felt like an eternity before they managed to open their eyes, and when they did, the sight struck fear into their soul. This wasn't Earth. They could feel it in every cell of their body.

Shakily, they tried to stand, but realized their wrists were shackled to the ground. They screamed, calling out over and over, begging for someone to hear them, but all they got was silence. The only thing they felt was the desolate, barren land around them. Time seemed to stretch endlessly, moving too slow for their mind to comprehend.

They screamed until their voice was gone, their throat raw, and the silence returned, louder than before. Pain. Death. Pain. Death. The only responses they ever got. Over and over again.

Even after so many years, they still couldn't understand how they ended up here. How they'd bent the darkness around them, how the monster had watched them leave, how they ended up in the middle of the colosseum in Rome. They couldn't remember how they even got home, or how two years had passed.

But one thing became painfully clear: no matter how much they wished to forget, they would never be the same.
