The five of us pile out of the Twinkie and come to a stop in front of the Lighthouse, looking at our surroundings. After making sure that we were the only ones here, John B turns to JJ.

"Alright, you're gonna post up and look out for bogeys, okay?" he commands.

"Wait..." JJ raises his brows. "Why me?"

"Because you're not coming." Pope says plainly.

JJ scoffs. "Why?"

Pope rolls his eyes. "Look, JJ, there are independent and dependant variables. You're an independent, we don't know what you'll do."

I let out a laugh as the boys face falls. John B then looks at me. "I don't know why you're laughing, sweetheart. You're staying here too."

I immediately stop laughing. "Bro, what?"

"Look, just listen to me. Pope, you stay out on lookout with these two, okay?" John B says, making the boys smirk fall. "If we get split up, we meet back at JJ's house."

"Great!" Kie breathes out, walking towards the fence that surrounds the lighthouse.

I watch the girl walk away. "John B, if you wanted to canoodle with Kie alone, you could have just asked." I mutter.

"Lavender I'm not—" he groans before sighing. "Whatever, just be careful and don't do anything stupid." he then nods at Kiara, and the two take off towards the lighthouse.

"Well, I'm gonna head over there and work on my merit scholarship essay. I'm trying to keep felonies to a minimum." Pope announces while pointing to a tree, emphasising the last part.

JJ takes out a ball from his pocket and begins to fiddle with it, bouncing it and kicking it around. "Would you just shut up already." he says moodily.

I shake my head at the two of them and pull out one of the many towels from the back of the Twinkie before heading up the ladder on the side of the vehicle. I make it up onto the roof and lay out the towel before lying on top of it, the warm metal feeling nice on my back. I lay there peacefully with my eyes closed, taking in the warm Outerbanks summer sun.

I almost feel myself drifting off when a shadow suddenly covers my body, making me peep open an eye. I'm met with a head of blonde hair smiling goofily down at me. "Maybank." I mutter, shutting my eyes after.

"Whatcha doin'?" he sings, laying down on the towel next to me.

"Tanning." I answer. "What are you doing?"

"Tanning." he responds in the same tone as I did, making me turn my head to him.

His skin gleams in the sunlight, highlighting all of his sharp features and clear skin. I notice a few freckles dotting over his nose as a smile makes its way into his face. "Good view?" he mutters.

I roll my eyes. "Vain as ever."

"Oh, don't get shy on me now." he taunts.

"Did you come up here to tan or piss me off? Because I'm two minutes away from pushing you off the ledge of this van." I threaten, watching as he opens his eyes and turns to me.
