Captured Chapter Nine

They came across a small waterfall with a pool of water under it. Avaele listened to the waterfall, amazed at the beauty of something as simple as water. Christopher let go of her hand, and it instantly felt cold and empty. He put down his bag and took off his shoes and shirt.

"What are you doing?" Avaele asked. "Going for a swim." he replied. "I though your arm hurt." He shrugged. "It healed." he lied, and jumped in. When he surfaced, he said "Jump in Avaele! You do have a change of clothes." She sighed and pulled off her dress, her shoes, and her diamond necklace and put them to the side. She had an undershirt and skirt on that would just have to get wet.

She tested the water with her foot and jumped back. "That's freezing!" she complained. Christopher chuckled, "But refreshing. Jump in." "No." she replied stubbornly. " Fine, let's keep moving. At least help me out." he reasoned. Avaele groaned,"Fine." she took his hand, and he smirked. Her eyes widened. "Oh, no."

      "Oh, yes."

Christopher said, and pulled her into the water. Shock went through Avaele's body, and when she surfaced, she gasped for air. "Christopher!" she yelled, as she wiped her eyes. "Christopher?" Then she was pulled into the water. She snapped her eyes open and she saw Christopher, grabbing her hand and pulling her through the water.

He swam up, and she followed him. She breathed in air and wiped her eyes. When she opened them, she saw that she was behind the waterfall. She saw Christopher sitting on a big, dry, flat rock, farthest away from the waterfall. She swam over to him, and he helped her up. "This is amazing." she said, looking around.

They sat side by side in an awkward silence. Avaele decided to break the silence and stodd up. "Where are you taking me?" she asked. Christopher stood up. "I said none of your beeswax." he stated, a little annoyed. "I want to go home." "You can't" he said coldly. Anger boiled inside of Avaele, the anger that she had kept to herself the whole time.

"I miss my home! My mom and dad that have been gone for weeks! All I did was hug them, and run back to my room!" She yelled at him. Christopher's eyes turned dark. "At least you still have a mom!" he yelled back at her, the anger from his mom's death filling him. Avaele ignored him and kept yelling.

"How would you like it if you were going to thank your parents for the most amazing things, but instead some  stupid, random, stranger ripped you from your home and took you some where that you didn't even know that you were going to?! How would you feel?!" Avaele stood there, trying to cool down and get her breath back.

"Stupid?" he asked. " You heard me!" she spat. Christopher's jaw clenched and he  pushed her to the back of the cave-like area. They stood there, glaring at eachother. "You should be glad that I'm not running away." she said, coldly. Christopher raised his voice. "Then why aren't you?" he demanded. She looked down, and didn't answer.

Her expression softened, but his didn't. He turned to leave on the pathway out from behind the waterfall, where he wouldn't get wet. "Christopher." Avaele called. He whirled around. "What?" "I'm sorry." she answered, quietly. Christopher turned, and stormed out, leaving the heart broken Avaele behind.
