Captured Chapter Seven

They kept walking, side by side in the forest. "We will have to camp in the forest again." Christopher said. Avaele just nodded. They walked for a while, not saying anything. "It's just up here." he said. When they got to the cleared area, they set up camp. Avaele set out the sleeping bag, while Christopher got wood for the fire.

Avaele waited until he came back. He came with wood and a blanket. "Look! I found a blanket under some leaves." he beamed. "Yay! Let's celebrate! Where's the cake?" Avaele said sarcastically. "Haha." he mumbled.

Christopher started the fire, and it quickly grew. Avaele closed her eyes and let the fire warm her face and hands. Christopher saw her peacefulness and let a smile onto his face, his eyes studying her. He had also found a new, blue dress for when they go through the village. It was a peasant dress, but she'll have to wear it. He wanted to surprise her. There was something about her that was different from any other girl. Oh yeah, she was the daughter of the rulers of Cauprom. He was the son of the ruler of Soleil.

He sighed and picked up the blanket, shaking off the dirt. Avaele felt something come around her, and then warmth next to her. She opened her eyes. She saw that Christopher had put a blanket around her and was sitting next to her, the blanket around him too.

She looked at him staring at the fire. She looked at his eyes, blue like hers, and his pale brown hair. She could tell that he was strong, after all, he had lowered her out of a window and carried her for hours. She could also see his muscles through his shirt. She soon realized that ha was looking at her too. She blushed, and looked down.

Christopher smiled, and studied her, her deep blue eyes, her long, tinted reddish-brown, wavy hair, her perfect nose, her soft lips, her light layer of freckles. They both looked at the fire, the flames dancing along the wood.

Christopher said," We should probably go to sleep now, or we'll be really tired tomorrow." "Okay." Avaele said. She pushed off the blanket and crawled into the sleeping bag. "Aren't you going to tie me to a tree?" she asked, holding out her wrists. "Will you run away if I don't tie you to a tree?" "Well, I wouldn't get very far if I did run away." she replied. "I won't tie you to a tree anymore Avaele." he said. "Thank you."

A while later, she woke up to a sound. She waited to hear it again. Avaele held her breath until she heard a growl. She gasped. "Chrisopher!" she whispered. "Christopher!" he woke up. "What?" he asked. "I heard a growl!" she said. She looked over his shoulder to see two green eyes, before a mountain lion pounced onto Christopher.

"Christopher!" she shreiked. She looked around and saw a big rock. She picked it up and threw it at the mountain lion. The mountain lion turned and circled her, growling. Christopher used as much strength as he could to pull out his pocket knife, and stand up. The mountain lion pounced at Avaele. "No!" Christopher shouted, and jumped onto the mountain lion, jabbing his pocket knife into it, before it could touch Avaele.

The mountain lion whined and  limped away to take it's last breaths. Christopher now laid on the ground, groaning. Avaele sat there, wide-eyed and shocked. She stumbled over to Christopher to look at his wounds. He had only one scrath, bleeding through his white shirt, staining it. Avaele found another pocket knife in Christopher's bag and cut off the ropes on her ankles. She pulled out her pocket doll in her ribbon and placed it beside Christopher.

She ripped off her ribbon and dipped it in a near by stream, and ran back to Christopher. She pulled off his shirt and gasped at his wound. She wiped off the blood with the end of her dress, and tied the ribbon around his arm. She dragged him to the sleeping bag , and draped the blanket onto him.

"Avaele." he whispered. "You're awake!" she exclaimed. "I've been awake the whole time. I could have crawled to the sleeping bag myself. You didn't have to drag me." he said, smirking. Avaele blushed and looked away. "Here's yourr doll." he said, handing her the doll. "Thanks. Will you be okay?" she asked, worried. "Yeah, I'll be fine. You did a good job with my wound." he said.

"I was a girl scout, remember?" she said, smiling. Avaele laid down on the ground, next to the sleeping bag. She closed her eyes, but was interrupted by Christopher. "'Avaele, don't sleep on the ground." he said. "I have to. You deserve the sleeping bag." she replied. "You can sleep on the sleeping bag too." he said. Avaele blushed and crawled to the other side of the sleeping bag, far away from Christopher. "Avaele, next to me. I  have to protect you."he said.

Avaele crawled next to him, and pulled the sleeping bag over them. She fell asleep, not knowing that she was in his arms.
