Captured Chapter Eleven

When Avaele heard children laughing, she knew that they were close. She dropped Christopher's hand and pushed through the bushes and the leaves of the trees. He followed her out of the forest and into the cheerful village. Christopher found Avaele playing catch with some children. He smiled. When he got her attention, he tapped his wrist, as if he had a watch.

Avaele mouthed," What?" to Christopher, and he mouthed back,"Market." Avaele quickly said goodbye to the children, with a smile and skipped over to Christopher. She looped her arm through his as they headed towards the market. "Why are we going to the market?" Christopher asked. "None of your beeswax." Avaele replied, smugly. "Avaele." Christopher warned. She sighed. 'To go see my friend, Adelaide." When they arrived at the market, Avaele ran to where Adelaide's stand was.

"Adelaide!" she exclaimed. "Avaele? Avaele!" Adelaide ran to hug her. Avaele and Christopher watched as Adelaide's expression changed from happiness and excitement to what looked like shock and fear. Avaele was confused. "Adelaide, what's wrong?" "Oh Avaele, you have to get out of here. You're not safe in the village. people from the battles come here to get foodand supplies. They might recognize you and, oh, you have to leave." Adelaide said, making sure that only Christopher and Avaele heard her.

"Here." she said, as she pulled a blue shawl from her stand and wrapped it around Avaele's head and on shoulders. "Now hurry." she said with a smile. "Thanks Adelaide. I'll miss you, goodbye." Avaele said as Christopher pulled her away, out of the crowds of the market.

Avaele noticed a man, looking at them suspiciously. "Christopher, who's that man?" Christopher looked to where she pointed. That was a big mistake. The man instantly recognized him as the son of the ruler of Soleil, and started to make his way towards them. Christopher's eyes widened and he said,"Run." "What?" "Run!" Christopher grabbed her hand, and they took off, dodging through people, carts, and children.

Avaele looked back and saw the man still following them, but this time he was with four others. "Christopher! He has more men!" she said, scared. Christopher looked back and picked up their pace, taking off through the cottages and up and down alleyways. The men were closing in all around them, and they went the only way that they could. Forward.

They ran through a cloud of sand, and didn't realize that they had ran right into a dead end. "Christopher!" Avaele shrieked, staring at the wall, and then turning around to see the men walking down the alley, towards them. They were trapped.
