Captured Chapter Fourteen

Christopher and Avaele kept walking through the village, smiling, hand in hand. Christopher pulled out an apple from the bag and handed it to Avaele. "Thanks." she beamed, taking a bite out of it. "Your welcome. I realized that we haven't eaten since yesterday, and I thought you might be hungry, so I got so e food from Dr. Maur." Christopher replied. He pulled out an apple for himself, and was about to take a bite when Avaele dropped hers.

She whimpered and looked down at the dirty apple. She kept walking, Christopher following beside her. "Here, you can have mine." he sighed. "Are you sure?" she asked. "Posotive." Avaele blushed when he handed her the apple , and her fingers brushed against his. Christopher didn't know why she blushed, they were already holding hands.

He smirked, which made Avaele blush harder. "You like me." he blurted out, which made her blush even harder. "You like me." she shot back. "Yes, yes I do." Christopher replied smugly, which made Avaele blush the deepest red that you could imagine. She tried to slip her hand out of his because she didn't like awkward situations. Christopher just held her hand tighter, and leaned over to her ear.

"You're mine." he whispered. Avaele's heart beat faster and faster. She did like him- no she... Loved him. She knew what was different about him. He loved her back, she just knew it.

They continued to walk in silence, thinking about eachother. Christopher pulled his map out, and looked at where to go next. "We will have to go through the wheatfields at the side of he village." he informed her. "Okay." she said quietly. When they got to the wheatfields, it was getting dark. "We'll have to set ip camp in the opening." Avaele nodded. " It's about a mile walk, and we have to hurry." he explained.

She just nodded and followed closely behind Christopher. They waded into the waist-high wheatfield, watching where they stepped. A little while later, Christopher couldn't keep it in any longer. He turned around to face Avaele, looking down at her with caring eyes. She looked back up at him, with sadness in her eyes. "Are you okay?" he asked. Then she remembered that she should be mad. Avaele looked down and answered him in such a small voice, he could barely hear her. "I trusted you."

Christopher sighed and placed a hand on her shoulder. She flinched and stepped back, out of his reach. Avaele looked at the ground, and pushed past Christopher, towards the cleared space in the wheatfield. "Avaele, wait!" he called after her. Avaele ignored him and walked faster. Christopher ran around to the other side of her. She started to turn, to go the other direction, but Christopher grabbed her shoulder, and turned her to face him.

"Avaele-" "What Christopher? You never told me! You basically lied to me! The only reason that I hadn't run away is because you would catch me. Why? Why Christopher?!" she yelled. "Avaele, I'm sorry." he answered, not sure what to say. "I'm sorry?! How can I trust you again?!" she shot back. "Avaele, look at me." he pleaded. Avaele snapped her eyes to him.

The expression on her face cut deep into his heart. "I promised that you will go back home, and I'll keep that promise." Avaele looked away, but Christopher forced her head up to look at him. "Avaele, I have to protect you, and I will. You have to trust me." he said, trying to gain back her trust. "Why do you even care?! You just captured me so that you could rule. This whole time, it has been a game to you, and you're just spaces ahead of me. I will not be tricked again." she barked, a tear trailing down her cheek.

"It hasn't been a game Avaele." Christopher pleaded. "Then what is it? Why?" she said, forcing back her tears. Christopher pulled Avaele into his arms, trying to comfort her. Avaele soon realized what was happening and pushed him away. "Avaele, please." Christopher pleaded. He stepped towards her, her heart beating faster. He let his hand rest at the back of her neck, his fingers tangled in her hair.

Avaele couldn't move. Her eyes were locked on his. She searched in his eyes for what his expression meant. Did he care, or was this just a silly game? "I couldn't tell you. You would have hated me forever and run away." he answered. "I would have found out later on anyway." she reminded him. Christopher knew that she was right, but he hoped that by then, she would forgive him for it.

"I'm sorry." he said, looking at the ground. Avaele knew that he was sorry, and that he didn't know what to do. "I forgive you." Avaele said quietly. Christopher looked at her as if to ask 'really?'. She nodded. Christopher pulled her into his arms, thanking her. When they broke apart, Avaele asked," Why do you have to protect me?" Avaele loved him, but she wanted to know if he loved her back.

Christopher's hand went back to Avaele's neck, and he sighed. "Because." he paused for a moment, lifting his gaze up to Avaele's eyes. " I love you." A small smile made it's way onto Avaele's lips. She stood on her tip-toes as Christopher pued her up by her neck, gently, and kissed her. Avaele kissed him back, pressing herself closer to him. One hand clutched his eight arm, the other hand clutching his shirt.

Christopher wrapped his left arm around Avaele's waist. They broke apart the kiss, not letting eachother go. Avaele rested her head on Christopher's right shoulder, so that he could see her. "I love you too." she said, with an even bigger smile.
