"Every 100 years, a star falls from the sky. A warm light of hope that shines upon the world. Their power so big, it shall change the fate of the land that we stand on. Some say the fallen stars are the tears of the sky, saddened by our actions. Others think they are gods, expelled from their realm, condemned to roam the mortal plain. Without a doubt, the beauty of their shining heart can't be described with words, for there are some things that can only be understood once you see them"

"That's . . . the legend mom used to tell us, isn't it?"

"Yes"

"I almost forgot about it"

"I could never"

"Do you think it is true?"

"It's just some stupid kids story, Rosi"

". . ."

"Captain, there is a man outside, he looks very much like you, sir. Although, he hasn't said a word"

"Is that so?" Doflamingo was watching the stars on the deck of his ship, a marvelous vessel decorated as a flamingo. He was thinking of that legend his mother told him years ago. A story he once thought was just a fool's dream for hope in a cruel world that gave him nothing but suffering. Nevertheless, as the years passed, the pirate felt more connected to the story. Such a powerful being, fallen from its rightful place to live among the filth that was this earth. Somehow in his heart, he hoped for the legend to be true, and to find the Starborn.

He got up, and began to walk, following his subordinate. When he got in front of the man the rookie pirate talked about, he was shocked. Could it be . . ?

"Rosi . . . Rosinante, is that you?" The captain asked, not believing his eyes. For years, he thought had lost his brother, thinking he had died a long time ago. He thought he was alone in this world, that no one else could understand what he had gone through, but his brother was back, the one who had suffered the same as him. "Why won't you talk, brother?"

Rosinante looked at him shocked, his eyes wide open. What had he seen, what had he gone through all these years away from his brother? Even when Doflamingo bombarded his brother with a hundred questions Rosinante did not answer any of them.

The pirate took his brother in, giving him new clothes and food. For days he waited for his brother to finally open his mouth and tell him anything, even the simplest of words, but the longer he waited, the less hope he had. Over time, when weeks, or even months had gone by, he accepted his brother was mute. He assumed some unknown traumatic event left him like that. Either way, his brother joined the crew. He was now a part of the Donquixote family, well, the new one.

As the years went by, Doflamingo's power as a pirate grew, becoming well known in the North Blue. And that sea was becoming quite small for the pirate, who had bigger plans, after all, he wanted what was once supposed to be his and much more. He had big plans, as he wanted to rule, to have power, to have his revenge. And by his side he would always have Rosinante, now known as Corazon, as one of his four elite officers.

However, everything changed once they met a strange boy. A kid, a 10 year old who said he wanted to cause nothing but destruction and suffering. As insignificant as this new addition to the Donquixote pirates seemed, it would tear apart the two brothers, who once thought they loved each other.

His beloved brother betrayed him for a boy that was destined to die. As much as that hurt Doflamingo, a part of him knew he had lost his brother a long time ago, before all of that ordeal. Maybe he never truly cared for him, but thought they were supposed to be together, as they always were when they were kids. Or maybe it was their shared past that held them together, what made Doflamingo think they needed to stay beside each other. Corazon had suffered as he had, his brother was the only one who could understand him, his goals, his desires. But, it wasn't like that. It didn't really matter when their relationship began to degrade, as for in that moment, it was fully broken.
