Let The Light In

You couldn't stand the yelling anymore. Neither of you could get the other one's point across for the other one to hear. You had enough and kicked Nicholas out of the apartment.

Nicholas Pov:

The cold air stung my face as I stood outside your apartment door, my fist hovering just above the wood. I'd been pacing the hallway for what felt like forever, replaying everything I said—everything I shouldn't have said.

I deserved it, I know that. I deserved you telling me to leave, deserved the door slamming in my face. But I couldn't just walk away. Not from you. Not like this.

So here I am, standing in this stupid hallway, swallowing my pride. I knock. Once. Then again, harder. Still nothing.

Y/N's Pov:

Who is knocking at my door this late?

Nicholas Pov:

"Come on!" My voice cracks, half from the chill, half from the desperation clawing at my throat. "I'm sorry, okay? I was wrong!"

Y/N's Pov:

That's definitely Nick. I don't care what he has to say. I'm not opening that door.

Nicholas Pov:

No answer.

I press my forehead against the door, letting out a frustrated breath. "Please... just open the door. I—I can't leave things like this. I shouldn't have said those things. You didn't deserve that."

Still nothing.

My hand slams against the door, not out of anger, but out of fear—fear you won't let me fix this. "Let me in!" I yell, my voice breaking. "I'm not going anywhere until you hear me out!"

Y/N's Pov

I get up off the couch, ready to walk to the door and open it. My hand hesitates at the door handle.

Nicholas Pov:

I hear the faintest shuffle inside, and my chest tightens.

"I love you," I whisper, leaning closer to the door. "And I'll stay out here all night if that's what it takes to prove it to you. Just... please don't shut me out."

Y/N's Pov:

Tears prick my eyes as I hear him say those three words. He finishes speaking and I know that I can't let him stand outside and freeze. I unlock the door and open it.

Nicholas Pov:

The lock clicks. The door creaks open. And there you are, eyes tired, lips trembling. You don't say a word, but the look on your face says it all.

"I'm so sorry," I say, stepping closer. "Let me make it right." I scoop her up in my arms and rush to kiss her. The kiss being a non verbal apology. She kisses back.

"I'm sorry." I say breaking away. The tears in her tired eyes telling me how badly I hurt her.

She doesn't say anything and just hugs me. She nuzzles her head in the crook of my neck.

"Let's not fight again." she says.

"Promise." I say.

Y/N's Pov:

I break away from the hug.

"I love you, Nick." I speak.

"I love you too, Y/N. So much." he says bringing me in for another kiss. I cup his face in my hands, his cheeks cold from being outside.

"Want some hot chocolate? You're freezing." I ask him.

"I would like that. Thank you." he says with his cheeky grin.

I smile and go to make some. Glad that we resolved this. Me knowing if he never came back, knocking on the door that I would still be curled up in bed crying.

I truly love Nick and he loves me.
