Chapter Twenty Three

When David was discharged from the hospital his friends took turns taking him to places which could regain his memory. David visited his grandparents house in New York and then in California.

Ralph hired three therapists for his son David. He even hired a Professor and business coach.

It wasn't easy for David however he has a good support system coming from his family and friends.

Ralph has mentored David when it comes to decision making while his brother Steven helps him with strategies.

Nicole and her family are busy preparing for the marina's annual feast celebration.

Hailey looks at Nicole. "If he can't remember you and the past memories with you then how about you start making new good memories with him."

Nicole looks at her sister. "Well that's a good idea however I am kind of banned from joining his circle. They have been treating me like I don't exist anymore nor do I exist in their world."

Stephany joins her sisters. "Don't you think it's kind of harsh, I mean all of them are exaggerating. It wasn't your fault why you and David had that tragic accident, it's even stated in the police report that the truck lost its brake! Geezz, have they watched the news on that day?!"

Hailey looks at Stephany. "I guess not."

"Let's not dwell on this thing. He's... David is happy with his current girlfriend so let's just leave it be," says Nicole.

Stephany reacted, "Aren't you going to fight your love for him?

"Steph, I would really want to, God knows how much I want him back but I just don't have the courage right now. Everyone is .... they're all against me. It's hard to fight in a battle where.... it's hard being alone you know?"Nicole sighs frustratingly.

Hailey feels sad for Nicole. "Maybe one day, he's gonna wake up with all of his memories back."

Nicole smiles faintly. "I certainly hope so. I'll just go to the beach and get some fresh air." Nicole stands up and walks out of the house.

"I really feel bad for Nicky. All of her friends have turned their backs on her. It wasn't even her fault," says Hailey.

Nicole's walking on the beach and thinking about what ifs and her good memories with David.

Sean walks to Nicole. "I knew I'll find you here."

Nicole looks at Sean.

"How have you been?" Sean sits beside Nicole.

"I don't know, I'm still struggling," Nicole replied.

"I know our history together is really bad and I was an asshole back then," Sean feels regretful.

"Do you still have that rivalry with him? You couldn't stand each other," says Nicole.

"Surprisingly it's all gone. I...David...he doesn't remember any of it so...why dig up the past? What for?" Sean gets some pebbles and starts throwing it. "I'm also tired of fighting and arguing with him. It's worthless, it's just a waste of time," Sean tells Nicole.

Nicole smiles. "It's good to know that you've changed."

"You know when we were in Europe," Sean starts narrating to Nicole, telling her what he and David did, they were working with each other in solving the business crisis. "We got each other's back and it feels so damn good, you know?"

"Yeah, I agree." Nicole sighs.

"I can help you with him. I know how much you guys love each other," Sean tells Nicole.
