The Mystery of Us (You and Me Against the World)

Chapter Thirty

David puts on his cufflinks and feels nervous. "Damn...this is driving me nuts."

Jade pops up a bottle of champagne.

Steven fixes David's coat. "You got this brother!"

David blows some air.

Ken hands David a glass of champagne.

"Thanks. I really need this." David drinks the glass of champagne.

"You ready?" Ken asked David.

David chuckles. "This is nerve wracking man. I mean we already are married but doing it again with the full wedding ceremony is...it hits differently."

Ken taps David's shoulder. "You got this, David J!"

David thinks of Nicole.

Nicole feels dizzy.

"Hey sissy, are you okay?" Bethany looks at Nicole.

"I think I'm pregnant," Nicole whispers.

"What...oh my ghaddd! Like... you....oh this is so amazing!" Bethany feels excited.

"My gown is a little tight and I feel like my boobs are about to explode!" Nicole complains.

Charlotte walks to Nicole. "Oh you look so perfect! Stunningly beautiful!"

"I'm hungry," Nicole looks around.

Bethany hurriedly gets the saucer filled with French macarons. "Here."

CJ gets in the room and gives the gift to Nicole. "It's from David."

Nicole feels touched and excited.

"You might want to read the card first," says CJ.

Nicole smiles. "I'm just too excited." Nicole takes a deep breath and gets the envelope and pulls up the card.

"To my dearest beloved wife Nicole Arelaine,

As I sit down to write this letter, I find myself overwhelmed with emotions that words can scarcely express. Yet, I must try, for in just a few days, I will have the indescribable joy and honor of calling you my wife. This is a moment I have dreamt of countless times, yet it feels even more profound and wonderful knowing that destiny brought us together.

Reflecting on our journey, I am awestruck by how beautifully our paths have intertwined. We have weathered storms that once seemed formidable, and I have seen your strength and grace shine through every challenge. It is in those moments of adversity that I realized how deeply I cherish and love you. You are my rock, my sanctuary, and the brightest star in my universe.

(Nicole's tears suddenly crowd in her eyes)

You have taught me the true meaning of love, patience, and compassion. With you, I have discovered parts of myself I never knew existed, and for that, I am eternally grateful. Your kindness and gentle spirit inspire me to be a better man every day. I am in awe of your beauty—both inside and out—and I feel incredibly fortunate to be the one who gets to stand by your side through all of life’s adventures.

Nicole, you mean the world to me. Your laughter is my favorite melody, your dreams are my dreams, and your happiness is my highest priority. I promise to cherish you, to respect you, and to honor you as we walk together towards our future. I vow to support you through every trial and triumph, to laugh with you in times of joy, and to comfort you in times of sorrow.
