My lips felt like they were about to tear from smiling so much, as joy overflowed from my heart. I could no longer hide my happiness. Lee Know hyung was driving the car while I sat in the shotgun seat. Lee Know hyung kept glancing at me; he seemed unused to seeing me this happy.

"Did something happen?" he asked.

I just smiled at him.

Upon arriving at the parking lot, I quickly got out and said goodbye to Lee Know hyung to go meet Han and Seungmin. We decided to visit the newly opened coffee shop across from our campus. From afar, I could already see them waving at me.

"Hi," I waved back happily.

"What's with the faces?" I asked them, noticing they seemed uneasy in their seats.

"What?" I asked again.

"A-ahm, you know what, Lix, let's head to that new coffee shop," they said in unison.

"Okay," I replied, a little confused.

When we arrived at the coffee shop, we immediately looked for a place to sit and ordered while pulling out our iPads, notebooks and pens. We sat near the door; Seungmin and I had our backs to the entrance, while Han faced us and the entrance. We decided to review for our upcoming exam next week here. We didn't really talk; everyone was focused on their own review. But I sensed something was off because they still appeared uneasy. I was in the middle of sipping my coffee when I heard the door chimes; I initially tried to ignore it, but then I heard Han curse.

"You've got to be fucking kidding me," he muttered under his breath.

I quickly turned to see where Han was looking, immediately regretting it. I really thought something had changed since our vacation. But apparently, nothing had. I exhaled, recalling that he's HWANG HYUNJIN, he can do whatever he wants. Hyunjin entered the coffee shop with a girl hanging on his arm. As I stared at the girl, she looked unfamiliar to me; should I say, she's a transferee? She wasn't the girl Hyunjin was with before at the bar. She was a different girl. I quickly looked away from them and returned to what I was doing as if I hadn't seen anything.

"L-Lix," Han stuttered.

"This is the reason, right? Why you're so being uneasy?" I asked them. They quickly nodded.

"Come on, guys. You don't need to act like this; I'm really okay. I'm not expecting anything from him. Let's just go; we might be late," I explained to them.

As I stood up, I coincidentally locked eyes with Hyunjin, but I immediately averted my gaze and left the coffee shop first.

While we walked toward campus, Han and Seungmin were cursing Hyunjin's name to death. I laughed at them; they seemed more affected than I was. But I won't lie, there's a part of me that hopes for a change. I took a deep breath and urged them to hurry, hoping we wouldn't be late.

When we arrived in the room, I wasn't surprised that Hyunjin was the only one missing from Lee Know hyung's group. We quickly returned to our seats to wait for our professor. When our professor arrived, Hyunjin walked in with the girl from the coffee shop. Hyunjin plopped down in his seat while the girl stood next to the professor, probably to introduce herself.

"Guys, meet your new classmate. She's a transferee, kindly introduce yourself to your classmates," our professor said.

"Hi, good morning. I'm Jeon Mayei, 21 years old. I hope we can be friends," she said.

"You wish," I heard Han mutter.

I quickly shot a glare at Han, hoping no one heard him. He just mouthed "what."

Fast Forward

We were on our way to the canteen for lunch, and we were about to sit in our usual spot when we spotted Lee Know hyung signaling for us to sit with them. I had no choice but to complain, so Lee Know hyung wouldn't smack my head. As we approached their table, I felt like I was floating.

Miraculously, it seemed like he wasn't with Mayei. As soon as I sat down, I happened to be seated next to Hyunjin. I even saw him look at me, but I didn't bother to return his gaze.

"Where's Mayei?" Changbin hyung asked out of nowhere.

"She's taking care of something," Hyunjin answered shortly.

"So, who's she?" Chan hyung asked hesitantly.

"A friend of ours," he simply said.

"By the way, Lix, are you joining us later?" Lee know hyung asked.

"Where?"

"Carnival"

"Nope," I replied immediately.

"Wait, why?" he asked.

"I have plans later," I said, looking up at them.

"Oh, o-okay," hyung replied shortly.
