"Can I love you?"

Out of all the possible reactions and conversations Sanskar had prepared himself for, he didn't imagine the question and fear in Swara's eyes.

"Please tell me I can love you and your family will happily accept me"

He blinked his eyes and saw the tears continuously flowing out of her eyes.

"Please tell me I can love you and don't have to prove myself again and again"

"Tell me I can love you and my bad luck won't spoil your life"

She choked and looked down, the words that she was so scared to even say to herself finally spilling out.

"Tell me I can love you and we won't have any problems"

She closed her eyes and shook her head in no. She opened her eyes and said, "Sanskar you should marry Ankita. Your family chose her, you will never be in a position to chose between her and your family. People won't be making plans to separate you both.."

He stepped closer to her as he asked, "you think Ragini or Mom can separate us?" She looked away hearing it.

"Just because I can't have a family doesn't mean you should lose yours too", she whispered looking into the blank space. Her eyes dropped close feeling the distance between them disappear.

She gulped feeling his hands cup her face. She felt soft caress on her cheeks wiping her tears away. She opened her eyes and almost gasped seeing him looking at her with so much love. She started sobbing nodding her head in a no. "Sanskar we can't be happy, I.. I am so unlucky", her sobs grew louder as she tried to push him away but she couldn't push him.

She cried louder as he pulled her in a hug. She hugged him clutching his shirt in her fists and whispered, "let me be in the darkness alone, I am scared of your fireworks". He broke the hug and wiped her tears, "Do you trust me?" he asked cupping her face.

"I don't trust my fate", she said looking away and he shook his head in no. "That's not the answer to my question Swara".

She looked at him and gulped, she placed her hands on his chest and asked, "will you trust me if something happens?"

His heart tugged and he asked, "so that's your fear? You think everyone will prove you wrong to me as well?"

"I don't think that. I know everyone will definitely do it but I am scared I don't have the strength anymore. I fought for the wrong people and got tired, I am now scared I won't be strong enough to fight for the right one", she said and sobbed closing her eyes.

"Your life would be easy if you.." she said but got interrupted by him as he shushed her joining his forehead with her.

"Shh"

She gulped and didn't dare to open her eyes. "You still haven't answered me Swara. Do you trust me? Do you really think I would ever distrust you and let you go?"

She clutched his shirt silently not opening her eyes. He whispered with closed eyes, "you know I would rather come to you here every weekend than stay in Kolkata. You know I would rather love you my whole life not expecting anything from you than to find someone else. You know I would do anything to be close to you. You know I would rather burn in the fireworks of love than to stay in darkness like you do.."

She opened her eyes and he also opened his eyes. "And now when I know you love me, how can I let you go? Do I look like a stupid fool to you that after finally having you I would dare to distrust and lose you?"
