Tim's POV

Lucy went into surgery the minute we made it back to the hospital.
I mean I saw how absolutely awful her injuries were.
12 hours later I was still sitting in that same chair.
Now I was holding Juniper, Tamara and Angela were beside me.
Lucy had coded four times in the air ambulance. Each time taking a few seconds longer to come back.
I could feel her slipping away, her blood was still on my clothes.

I didn't want to go to the bathroom to change just in case that was when the doctors said she died or that she was ok.

A doctor had come every few hours to update us on the surgery. From what we were told everything was going well. Lucy was going to be ok for now anyway.
The physical wounds would only leave scars.
I was more worried about the mental ones.

*Four days later*

I had been at the hospital for days.
I wasn't sure exactly how many hours I had been there but I had barely slept, eaten or anything.

Just in case Lucy woke up while I was asleep, or gone.

Lucy's POV

I opened my eyes tentatively. Feeling all at once like I had slept for a decade and not at all for weeks. Everything around me was so bright, I could feel the faint beeping of the machines I was attached to behind me. The last few days seemed hazily rememberable, the station.
The drugging...
The torture...
The barrel.

I groaned at the pain all over my body and someone next to me immediately sat up more straight.
"Luce?"
It was Tim. He seemed nervously optimistic about my awakening.
I groaned again in response and opened my eyes further, turning my head in the direction of Tim's voice.

Tim's POV

Lucy's eyes opened slowly.
"Oh thank god your awake"
Lucy's lips pulled into a slight smile at my comment.
"W-water"
Lucy's voice was quiet and struggling to talk even single words. I held a glass to her open lips and poured a small amount in at a time.
"How long out?"
Obviously Lucy didn't want to talk too much so she was paraphrasing her sentences.
"Four days. Seven total from that day when you were at the station. Three days of just..."
"Torture"
I let a tear roll down my cheek and leaned in to softly hug Lucy which she accepted.
At least this time she remembered everything. Not that that was a good thing for her. Remembering every second your your torture, your kidnapping, being buried alive, almost dying.

"I'll call a doctor in to make sure your ok after your surgery and everything."
I reached for the button on the wall which called a doctor.

Lucy's POV

A doctor walked into the room after a minute looking hopefully but also saddened.
"Miss Chen, I'm so glad you're awake. You went through something absolutely awful so I'm giving you the cards of some great therapists with the recommendation you attend at least one session a week."
She handed Tim the business cards as my hands were fully bandaged and I could barely move them at all.
"Ok, well, you had a major surgery done on practically every surface of your body. 74 broken bones, skin grafts onto the worse of the burns, major internal bleeding, malnutrition, dehydration."
The doctor looked over at Tim.
"What is your relation to Miss Chen?"
"Um colleague, ex boyfriend, father of her one and a half year old daughter"
Tim signaled to the sleeping girl in his arms.
The doctor nodded.
"It may be best if you leave ethe room for this bit. So unless Miss Chen would like you to stay, may you please leave the room now.
I made no movements indicating Tim should stay so Tim walked out into the waiting room again.

The doctor suddenly seemed more serious and equally saddened.
"I am so sorry Miss Chen, but you suffered a miscarriage at 5 weeks pregnant during your ordeal. I will have a nurse come in to talk you through next steps in a minute and a grievance councilor will be ok stand by if you would like one. Again I am so very sorry for your loss."
The doctor walked out while I was still in shock.
A baby.
I-i had been pregnant...
With Tim's baby based on the timeline.
I-i was pregnant....
And now... I wasn't...

I sat alone with my thoughts for a minute, staring at the space in front of me and then down to my stomach over and over again.
A nurse walked in after a few minutes, knocking on the door before entering.
"Miss Chen?"
I nodded softly.
"Because you were relatively early in this pregnancy, the miscarriage will feel like a bad period. It should last a week or two of bleeding for everything to be fully out and when you have stopped bleeding for a few days please take a pregnancy test to ensure everything is gone. If it is still positive, we will talk about next steps then."
The nurse nodded at me softly and I briefly nodded back.
"I am so very sorry for your loss miss Chen"
She added another business card to the stack already on the table.
"A grievance councilor is a good place to start if that feels helpful to you. And please do remember you are not alone, even walking into your room there were about 5 people waiting in the hallway for you. You can talk to them. Again I am so very sorry for your loss Miss Chen."

I couldn't even cry.
I just felt shock.
Over a baby that I didn't even know about until it was dead.
I was so stupid.
If I had known that I was putting another life in danger...
I never would have done it.

Another knock at the door.
Tim came in after a second, looking just as happy as he has when I woke up.
I faked a smile.
I wasn't going to tell him the my reckless had killed our baby. Not yet at least, possibly not ever.
"Can everyone else come in now? They've been wanting to see you awake for days"
I nodded, faking excitement at seeming all my usual favourite people.
Tim opened the door, letting an almost hurd of people inside.
Angela, Tamara, little Jack, John, Nyla and obviously Tim and Juniper all crowded around me bed.
I smile at the group, feeling dead on the inside.
I remembered seeing Grey's body just before I was drugged.
"Is Grey ok?!"
Tim nodded at me reassuringly,
"He woke up after a few hours perfectly fine. Only a strong sedative."
I let out a breath.
No one else...
Except my baby.
Had been seriously hurt by my need to catch Emmet and Rosalind. Wait were they caught?
"Did you catch them?"
Angela shook her head sadly.
"Small plane hidden in the woods. They landed at an airfield, apparently a few of the planes were being stolen by Emmets friends from prison, so we don't know which one they went in. We don't have any leads. I'm so sorry Lucy."
Great.
I lost my baby, got kidnapped, buried alive, almost died. For nothing.
If anything a loss in progress.
I was so close.
Now it was all for nothing.

I left a simple tear fall down my cheek as I rolled over slightly and closed my eyes to go back to sleep
