Lucy's POV

I heard the opening and closing of the front door as Tim come back in.
I have been crying for the last few hours while I was wherever it was he was.

Then I hear my bedroom door opening slowly with a slight creak.
"Luce?"
I hear Tim's voice call out to me.
I don't know if he will ever stop hoping I'll reply. I won't. And I don't reply.

"I read your notebook."
Which notebook?
He went to my apartment?
Why did he go to my apartment?
"The one with the encryption."
Oh no no no.
Tim can't have read that notebook.
That was meant to be something for only my eyes.
That was why it was encrypted.
So only I could read it.

But now that I actually stop and think.
Every single one of the codes I used was somehow related to Tim.
He could crack it as well.

I sat up painfully, propping my back against the backboard.
Staring at Tim half worried, half... I wasn't even sure.

"You went to investigate Emmet. When you went 'undercover'?"
I nodded slightly.
Now Tim would actually hate me.
"A-and he was the one who hit you... He tried to kill you. He almost did! and you didn't run."
I just stay still, my eyes looking at the floor now as I can't bare to look into Tim's eyes as whatever little love he had for me disappears.

"You sent us away to protect us while you were in danger. W-Why?"

Tim's voice faulted, something it didn't d very often. He seemed almost... Confused.
I looked up again and Tim was almost smiling in that confused manor.
"Why did you do something so obviously stupid for me. I mean Juniper I understand, she's your daughter. You would do anything for because you love her. But me... You......... You... Love me."

Tim just stared back at me and almost whisper the sentence.
"You love me"
I rolled my eyes at his oblivion.
"Even after all the lying when you had amnesia and every other stupid thing I've done. You still love me?"

Tim's POV

I was still in shock.
Lucy still loved me.
That was what she was writing in the book before Grey interrupted her and she had to leave for the station. That she loved me.

I mean she hadn't actually said it, but she also hadn't denied it.
I swiftly walked out of her room, leaving the door open. My phone vibrated.
'Lucy needs you'
God that stupid button.
I backtracked into Lucy's room.
"What?" I was still smiling from the realisation.
Lucy signaled she needed the bathroom so I called in Tamara.
Selfishly I was hoping that she wanted to further discuss the revelation of her feelings for me. And possibly my feelings for her as well.

Lucy's POV

My stomach had been killing me the last few hours.
I knew it was the miscarriage.
I also knew that I didn't want anyone else to know about that so I shooed Tamara out of the bathroom as soon as she had gotten me out on my wheelchair and into the toilet, my button next to me.

I could feel the blood leaking out of me.
And then a larger mass.
Something I could only assume was my baby.
A baby I had failed at keeping alive from my own stupidity.
It had only been a week since I was discharged from the hospital but it felt like a year ago.
I looked to the bathroom cabinet where a selection of pregnancy tests had sat for an undefined amount of time.
I let the tears start rolling down my cheeks.

It felt stupid, crying over a baby I didn't even know was alive until it was dead.
I didn't even know if that early on it classified as alive and by extension dead but it was to me.

I would need to take a test in a week.
And I needed to hope it was negative.
Never had a hoped for a pregnancy test to be negative.
Sure Juniper had been unplanned but if I hadn't been pregnant I would have let myself bleed out in a ditch. She had saved my life his be existing.  I hadn't hoped that test would be negative.
Honestly at that point, I had nothing to live for. I didn't mind either way.
But I was happy when it was positive.

Now I wouldn't get that.
I would have to go back to a hospital.
And possibly have a procedure.
Now I was actually hoping the test was negative.

Tamara knocked on the bathroom door.
"Hey Luce? You've been in there a while. Everything ok? Knock once if everything's fine, twice if you need help."

I knocked once.
Normally I didn't respond to their attempts at communicating but I didn't want Tamara to have to see the blood in the toilet bowl. And I really didn't want her to start asking questions.
Then I would break down.
And I couldn't handle that.

Tim's POV

Another week later and I was going back to work. Lucy was out of some of her casts and she could manoeuvre herself with a walker or crutches. Juniper was starting at a daycare and Tamara was starting a job online.

Honestly everything was becoming semi normal again.
Tamara was growing up and Juniper was starting to learn new things.
Lucy still wasn't talking though.
And we still hadn't talked feelings which I was procrastinating due to Lucy's current mental state.

I knew I loved her, and that she loved me too.
But she had only started therapy three days ago and the wasn't stable enough to truly know what she wanted.
It was like when she had amnesia.
I wouldn't do anything permanent with her, marriage, kids. Because if and when she remembered everything would become more complicated.

I wouldn't be that selfish again.
I would wait for her to get better and recover as much as possible from her trauma before asking her about her feelings again. Then maybe I would ask her out again.
And we could be together again and get married and have some more kids and live out our days together until we're old and gray.

I smiled to myself at the fantasy before walking over to the bookshelf and pulling out a small drawer to check the engagement ring was still there.
It was a small ring, perfect for Lucy's tastes based on the amount of times she gushed over it after a suitable amount of arrests from robbers of jewelry stores.
It was exactly her ring.

I bought it after dropping her home from our second date at the Vietnamese food trucks.
Maybe a little soon but I hadn't actually asked her yet. And I wouldn't for a while.
We still had to actually after first but I knew one thing for sure.
I wanted to spend the rest of my life married to Lucy Chen.
Or maybe it would be Lucy Bradford later on.
