Tim's POV

Neither of us said anything for almost a minute, both of us taking in the situation and not wanting to break the silence, moving would make all of it real, it would make us need to face it.

But eventually Lucy broke the silence.
"I'm sorry"

I just walked over to Lucy's side of the bed and sat next to her, looking down at the test in my hands.

"When did you find out?"

Lucy took a small breath.

"At the hospital, after the second time I was buried. When the doctor took you out the room if you remember. They told me I miscarried."

"I'm so sorry Lucy"

It made more sense now, not that it didn't make sense before. Mutism after a traumatic event wasn't uncommon, but now it made even more sense.
Lucy had been suffering with the loss of our unborn child, alone.

"I didn't even know I was pregnant until I wasn't anymore. I don't know if that made it better or worse."

Lucy half chuckled to herself, sniffling back tears that threatened to spill.

"Why... Why didn't you tell me"

I wasn't angry, not at Lucy anyway.

If Emmet wasn't dead I would have killed him for that. Causing my girlfriend so much pain on top of what he did to her already.

"I-i I'm so sorry Tim, I i-i w-wasnt, I-i didn't-"

Lucy was breaking down into almost incoherency, tears falling down her cheeks like waterfalls. I just hugged her tighter, cradling her head into my chest like I knew she liked me to do.

"It's ok baby. I'm not mad. It's ok. It's all going to be ok"

I hoped I was getting through to her, not making everything worse. She had kept this bottled up from everyone for months.

After a few minutes she managed to calm down a bit.

"That's why I told you to take me to the hospital, that time when you wondered why I needed to. I needed more medication, to finish... um..."

I nodded in understanding, only imagining how difficult it must have been to go through, even how tough it would be to talk about now.

Lucy's POV

I didn't even remember falling asleep through all the tears, but the next thing I knew I was waking up cradled in Tim's arms and lying down on our bed togather.

He made me feel safe, safer than I had anywhere in my life. And I loved him so much.

I woke up the next morning to a tray of freshly made pancakes and a glass on milk on a tray next to me bed. I was surprised Tim wasn't more sad, or angry, he lost a child too. I had robbed him of being there for Juniper's birth, and I had lost our second child.

"Luce?"

Tim sat down on the bed beside me, cutting a small bite of pancakes and holding it out on the fork in front of my mouth to eat.
I bit down on it softly, tasting the warm pillowy pancake with the sweet maple syrup and butter.
I looked over at Tim.

"I think maybe I would be best for you to go to therapy."

Tim held up his hand, indicating he wasn't done as I was already preparing my counter argument.

"And I know you don't want to. And I know last time didn't work out great. But I can be there with you if you want, and we can do it online if you want? So you can stay here while you do it? How does that sound Luce?"

I nodded tentatively.

Therapy was not a great option for me, but I knew that I wanted a future with Tim.
Something I had been to stupid and naive to see for years now. Because I could see myself married to him, with more kids and a family around us.

That was something I wanted for myself, and if therapy was the way to get there, then I would put myself through the pain of it.

"Yeah? You're open to it?"

I could see Tim was trying not to sound too hopeful but I could see how his eyes lit up while a faint smile played at his lips.

And that was how I found myself at therapy, sitting on my own sofa, a laptop open in front of me as the video call connected. Tim was sitting next to me,

The therapist seemed nice, kind.
And this time I wasn't trying to set her up with Tim which was also a bonus.

The session lasted a few hours, lying out everything I had lived through, all my heartbreak and suffering and surviving death, over and over again.

By the end I was almost laughing, the map of everything I had been through was thousands of words long. And somehow I had survived it all.

I clicked the end video call button at the bottom of the screen, letting the black screen take over the laptop.
Tim enveloped me in a hug, something that was slowly becoming more common for him to do.
He whispered softly into my ear as his arms slightly squeezed me but surrounded me with such a comforting warmth that I could barely feel it.

"I love you so damn much Luce. I really hope you know that because it is the most true thing I have said in my life."

For once I felt like I could face the world, because he was by my side.

I melted into his touch, letting myself fully relax in his arms for the first time in years.

It was all over.
I let out a breath.
"I love you Tim"
