Chapter 13 Orko's Birthday

Orko knew his birthday was coming up. Orko's friends knew that Trollan calendars work different that on Eternia. So they just celebrated his birthday on the day he arrived on Eternia. Orko was okay with it, but he would've liked it better if his friends celebrated his actual birthday. This year Orko was very excited. Because this year his birthday on the Trollan calendar matched up with the day he arrived on Eternia. So this was a really big deal for him. "This is very exciting," Orko said. "This will happen once every nine years almost, finally my birthday on the Trollan calendar matches up to the day I arrived on Eternia," he said. "So that day is really going to be my actual birthday," he said.

"That's great Orko," Adam said.

"Yes we can clearly see you are excited about it," Teela said.

"Trollan time is a little weird isn't it?" Roboto asked.

"I guess it is to non-Trollan," Orko said. "How I miss my home right now," he said. "You know this mark on my chest is the Oracle ring a rare and power mark," he said. "It is a mage emblem that tells everyone on Trollan the kind of wizard I am and it is a very rare mark I have," he said.

"I always thought it was 'O' for Orko," Man at arms said.

"No the Trollan alphabet and language is different from the one you all use," Orko said. "It is my mage emblem it tells what kind of wizard I am, what I value and the type of magic I can use," he said. "It also shows what kind of destiny I may have," he said. "There are 12 mage emblems," he said. "the Oracle ring the rarest and most powerful one which is only given to a very rare and special of heart, the cosmic spiral which is given as a symbol of power wizards with this mark are strong wizards they are real powerhouses my father before he died was one of the most powerful ones, there is the serenity crescent a mark of peace these wizards are peaceful and peacekeepers, the sage starburst a mark of wisdom these wizards are very smart and wise my uncle Montork has that one, the spirit arrow a mark of spiritualty these wizards at one with magic and spiritual, the service hand a mark of compassion these wizards always do whatever they can to help others, my mother before she died had that one and she was one of the most caring ones, the diamond pulse a mark of creativity these wizards are very creative and make great things, the warrior bolt a mark of courage these wizards are very brave and courageous warriors, the majesty sun a mark of dignity these wizards are highly dignified and protect dignity of themselves and others, the balance scale a mark of justice the wizards that have this mark are just and seek to make sure justice is fair for all, the paw of nature a mark for one who is one with nature these wizards protect nature it's plants and animals my aunt Esso who was my Uncle Montork's wife had that one and she was great with animals he loved her very much and misses her greatly, and last but not least the prism gem a mark of beauty the wizards with this mark seek to make everything and everyone around them look and feel beautiful." he said.

"So you have the Oracle ring so how did you get it?" Adam asked.

"I went on something pretty much many Trollans go on once they turn 16 years old, it is called a sorcerer's quest it is a big coming of age trial that can last almost two years," Orko said. "The young Trollan wizard must travel from some far point on Trolla that a magic gem in the crimson council chamber sends them to and they must make their way to the Trollan temple of power and be judged by the star tree," he said. "The star tree is a very sacred place on Trolla," he said. "The wizard will face many things on his or her way, and they will see many things too," he said. "This trial tests the wizard's skill, strength, faith, smarts, heart and soul," he said. "Once they make it to the temple of power the star tree will judge them and give them their mage emblem once it sees what is in their heart," he said. "I was given the oracle ring as I said," he said. "But for sometime I feel it made a mistake, I sometimes don't feel like I was worthy of this mark," he said. "I feel like I am just too ordinary for it," he said. "The first oracle did many great things he even help forge the sword of power and helped the first Eternia champion and the masters of the universe," he said. "His deeds helped in inspire this emblem." he said. "After him four more Trollans before me bore this mark and they did many great things," he said. "They all made Trollan a much better place," he said. "I doubt I could ever live up to that, especially now since I am here on Eternia," he said. "I feel like I am joke of a ringbearer which is what they call those who get this mark," he said.
