Chapter 10 Teela's Fear

Today Teela was busy training with Adam. "Come Adam show me what you can do when He man helps me train he can put up more action," Teela said.

"Tell He man that," Adam said.

"I am," Teela said.

"Okay now that's enough," Adam said.

"I agree," Teela said.

"Teela you are to go on test," Man at arms said. "You are to navigate your way through tunnel cave and make it out the other side," he said.

"Cave?" Teela asked. She looked worried, Teela knew tunnel cave was dark. She was scared of the dark. She always had been and she was nervous about it. "Do I have too?" she asked.

"Yes this is test to see if not only for you to go through the cave, but also that cave is the only way to the kingdom of Horion so sometime you got to go through it and talk to the people there," Man at arms said. "Adam is going through the test with you so you two will do it together," he said.

"Okay," Teela said.

"How long until we leave?" Adam asked.

"You will leave first thing tomorrow morning," Man at arms said.

"Okay," Teela said. Teela was very nervous about this. She made sure to pack a few strong lights for the trip. She was very nervous about this.

The next morning both her and Adam headed out. Teela saw the cave and was nervous. Slowly she enter the cave with Adam ahead of her. "Teela is something bothering you?" Adam asked her. "I am not used to leading us when I am not He man," he said.

"Nothing at all," Teela said nervously. "She was making sure the light was bright enough as it got darker.

"Do be careful with that bright light," Adam said. "Many of the animals in this cave are sensitive to light," he said.

"I know I just want it on," Teela said. Then the light turned out. "Uh oh not good batteries are dead," she said. Then there was a sound and she grabbed on to Adam. "What was that?" she said.

"Take easy Teela it's alright," Adam said. Then he felt Teela shaking. "Teela are you scared?" he asked.

"I uh.." Teela said.

"You can tell me anything," Adam said. "We are best friends," he said.

"Okay, I'm scared," Teela admitted. "I'm scared of the dark," she said. "Go ahead laugh," she said.

"I am not going to laugh," Adam said. "There is nothing wrong with being scared of the dark," he said. "If it makes you feel any better Teela I am scared of spiders," he said.

"You afraid of spiders?" Teela asked.

"Why do think I keep asking to come in and get it when I find one in my room?" Adam asked.

"I guess I never thought of that," Teela said.

"We all know what it is like to be scared Teela," Adam said. "Don't worry I just got out my light and I am about to turn it on," he said. He turned the light on and the began to head their way carefully through the cave. "Remember you are okay," he said. "My light may not be that bright but you have nothing to fear because I am right here," he said.

"Okay," Teela said. "I don't feel so scared with you Adam," she said.

"Well it will be okay," Adam said.

There was a strange sound. "What was that?" Teela asked. They heard yelping and wondering what it was. They came closer and saw it was dog and it had collar and it had a hurt paw. Teela bandaged the paw. "Look he is from Horion," she said. "He must have gotten lost," she said. "We better get him back there so he can go home," she said.

"Good thinking." Adam said.

They began to go through the cave and made it through to the other end. Then with dog they head to Horion. Upon arriving they found the dog's owner who was the prince of Horion. "Thank you for finding Cory," the prince said. "I was so worried about him, he ran off during a thunderstorm and we have been trying to find him," he said.

"No problem," Teela said. "We were happy to help," she said.

"Now are you ready to go through that cave again Teela?" Adam asked. "because that way we can head back home," he said. "You think you can handle it?" he asked.

"Yes, I can, especially with a friend like you by my side," Teela said. "Because with good friends there is no fear that is impossible to face," she said.

"You got that right Teela," Adam said. "Now let's get moving," he said. "I know Man at arms would love to hear about this," he said.

They made it through the cave once again and returned to the palace the next day. Man at arms was waiting for them.

"Teela, Adam is it is good to see you both made it back safe and sound," Man at arms said. "I hope you are okay Teela," he said. "Because I know you still haven't gotten over your fear of the dark that you had since you were a little girl," he said.

"You knew I was scared?" Teela asked.

"I am your father," Man at arms said. "Sometimes your own parents can tell you are scared or worried about something even if you don't tell them about it," he said.

"It went very well," Teela said. "I had Adam with me and with a good friend by my side, it wasn't as scary as I thought it would be," she said. "For that I am grateful," she said. "I am so happy to have such good friends by my side," she said.

"Yes and we even rescued the lost dog of the prince of Horion too," Adam said.

"Good work you two," Man at arms said. "Now you two can be trusted to go through the cave to Horion to talk to the people there for any reason," he said. "I am very proud of you Teela," he said.

"Thanks father," Teela said hugging him.

"Hi in today's story you read how Teela was scared of the dark," Orko said. "We all have fears and there is nothing to be embarrassed about," he said. "Everyone is scared of something," he said. "We all feel fear at some point in our lives," he said. "Also it is okay to be afraid," he said. "Sometimes fear keeps us safe from dangerous things," he said. "So if you ever feel scared of something don't worry about it, it is normal," he said. "Until next time," he said.
