Meanwhile, near Harrenhal, a bloody fight was taking place. The two dragons filled the skies with rage and ash.
The attack came without warning, brutal and swift. Caraxes dove at Vhagar, letting out a piercing shriek as he struck, the setting sun blinding Aemond's sight. The two dragons collided with a deafening roar, their flames igniting the sky like a raging wildfire.
They plummeted toward the lake, the Blood Wyrm sinking its teeth into Vhagar's neck. Despite Vhagar's claws and teeth tearing at Caraxes, the smaller dragon bit deeper, racing toward the water below.
But as the two dragons fought with savagery, another presence loomed in the air. With an ear scratching roar, a black dragon appeared in the darkening sky, its wings slicing through the air with the power of a storm.
"Angōs! (Attack!)" Aika ordered her black dragon.
With a snap of his jaws, the black dragon dove straight for Daemon and Caraxes, his massive form eclipsing the last rays of the sun. The shock of the attack was instantaneous.
The movement made Caraxes to get away from Vhaghar who barely kept herself in the air.
The black dragon's claws swiped at Caraxes, knocking the dragon off balance. With terrifying force, the dragon sank his teeth into Caraxes' exposed flank, sending a shockwave through the air.
The three dragons filled the sky with more screeches.
Daemon's attention snapped to Aika, trying to think of the ways to stop her. But the enormous size of the new dragon she claimed, quickly made him realize that he stood no chance.
His own visions darkened his mind as he started fumbling with the chains binding him to his saddle, with an intent to do a fatal strike.
With a precise motion, he made the Blood Wyrm do a crippling strike on Vhagar, making both Aemond and Aika startled. Before any of them could react, Daemon jumped off Caraxes and landed onto Vhagar, close to Aemond, while Aemond struggled to get out of his saddle.
Daemon ripped off Aemond's helm and raised his sword to strike. But as Daemon lunged toward him, the black dragon lunged into Vhagar with a speed that no one could have anticipated. It clung its claws into Vhagar, making her even more unstable, thus resulting Daemon to miss hitting Aemond. Moreover, the sword fell from his hand, landing uselessly in the lake below.
Aika cried out a 'No!' but the black one disobeyed, resulting Vhagar to get fatal wounds. As she lost the ability to stay airborne, she plummeted toward the lake below.
In a matter of seconds, Caraxes and Vhagar hit the water surface and submerged in, taking Aemond and Daemon with them.
"Naejot! Aderī! (Forward! Quick!)" Aika ordered, and her dragon accelerated its speed and flew after the fallen ones, cutting through the surface of water.
