Two months had passed since Zay's birthday party, and Gabby was fully settled into her new routine. Between running her candle business and staying at Zay's place, life had shifted in ways she couldn't have predicted. Every day felt like a new step forward, and for the first time in her life, she wasn't worried about what came next.
Her candle business was booming. Orders were coming in faster than she could handle, and her clients were asking for custom scents and larger orders. Gabby had hired a few people to help with the production side of things, giving her time to focus on the creative aspect—something she loved.
Zay had been her rock through it all. He made sure her days ran smoothly, offering support without even being asked. He'd set up meetings with a few of his business partners to help Gabby expand her brand. And even though things were getting hectic, he always made time for her, reminding her that they were in this together.
The Big Idea
One afternoon, as Gabby sat in her new office space at Zay's house, she stared at her computer screen, feeling the pressure of the growing business. The orders were becoming overwhelming, but she loved every second of it. Still, she knew she needed to make some changes to keep up.
Zay walked in, holding a tray of coffee and a bag of snacks. "You good?" he asked, placing the tray down beside her.
Gabby rubbed her temples, exhaustion starting to hit her. "Yeah, just a lot on my plate. I'm thinkin' about expanding, but I don't know if I'm ready for that yet."
Zay sat beside her, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Listen, baby, you're ready. You been doin' this on your own for too long. Let me help you. I can introduce you to some of my business contacts who could help you take your brand to the next level."
She looked at him, her heart swelling with gratitude. "I don't know what I'd do without you, Zay. You always got my back."
He smirked, leaning in to kiss her forehead. "Always. You ain't gotta worry about a thing. We in this together, remember?"
A New Opportunity
A week later, Gabby met with one of Zay's business partners, Marcus. He was a smooth talker, dressed sharp, and had the connections to back up his confidence. He saw potential in Gabby's candle business and offered her a chance to partner with a larger company that would help her scale up.
"I like what you're doing, Gabby," Marcus said during their meeting. "Your brand has heart. If you're serious about taking this to the next level, we can help you get there. But it's gonna take some trust and investment."
Gabby thought for a moment. She didn't want to give up control of her business, but she also knew she couldn't do it alone forever. She looked over at Zay, who had been quietly watching from across the room.
He gave her a small nod, silently telling her to make the choice that felt right.
"I'm in," she said, looking back at Marcus. "Let's do this."
The Next Step
By the end of the month, Gabby was on her way to becoming a major player in the candle industry. With the new partnership, she had the resources to expand her production and marketing. The orders were rolling in faster than ever, and her website traffic was higher than it had ever been.
Zay was right there by her side, helping with the business side of things and offering his expertise when needed. He never made her feel like she wasn't capable, always encouraging her to trust herself.
At night, when the business quieted down, they'd unwind together. Sometimes they'd curl up on the couch and watch movies, or talk about the future. Gabby knew one thing for sure: whatever came next, she was ready.
