Samuel led her into Sanctuary's rustic tavern hall, which had been cleaned top to bottom and set with the finest tablecloths. All of the important guests already sat around the long table eating food prepared for the event. They went to the head of the table, and Samuel sat down next to her; while she stood and greeted the room.

“Many of you already know me as the new Grand Sage, but today I come to you as a woman and a beastkin. I have a few things to discuss with you all, but first I would like to start with some happy news. Samuel and I will be getting married soon and I do hope you will all attend.”

She paused long enough to read the room and the Elven queen, Gwen Xalordi, smiled from down the table, before she offered, “Very nice a hero prince married to the Grand Sage. Why not just get to the good part about why the King of Caldorina is not here with us tonight?”

Zatiel met eyes with the queen and replied, “Indeed, it is likely many of you have guessed one of the main topics of conversation tonight. Caldorina has pushed a human supremacy agenda and enslaved those of other races for too long. The king of Everila has invested me the power to declare war on behalf of all Everila, for years of enslaving our people we have decided their kingdom has no place.”

The king of Venice, Donald Venice, spoke up, “Caldorina has always been a pain, but they keep the demon horde at bay and control three intelligent weapons.”

The dwarven king, Quagmire Felhammer grumbled, “Really the demons gave up when their demon lord died and the Caldorinans have been kicking them while they're down. There's a new demon lord now and she is gathering her minions.”

Zatiel silenced the jumble of voices that followed by speaking up, “So the Hero and I have already talked to the new Demon Lord and apparently they really just hate the Caldorinans as much as we do. The main problem with an alliance with the demons is getting rid of their curse, but I think there might be a way to do it with world magic.”

Everyone stayed silent and looked at her with confusion, then Gwen broke the silence, “It would kill two birds with one stone, if we could break the curse and make peace with the demons then they would have no reason to attack us, but where would all the humans go?”

The Grand Sage looked to King Donald and spoke carefully, “I was hoping that Venice would take our side and take a majority of the land, with demons and beastkin attacking from the sides and meeting in the north. That way we could divide the land up and set up a new place for negotiations between our nations.”

Donald replied, “Then the human population would rest on Venice to govern. What about the intelligent weapons?”

“Since Venice stands the most to lose in this, I would agree to letting Venice keep the weapons. Our ideal situation would be an agreement for peace between nations at this table at the very least.”

Gwen spoke first, “Elves have no love for the Caldorinan slavers. Those who wish to join the fight will be sent to Venice.”

Quagmire answered next, “We will not interfere with your plans beastkin, nor will we stop dwarven mercenaries from joining your cause. However, we won't accept an alliance with demon kind unless you can prove their curse is gone.”

Donald looked pained, but conceded, “Venice will stand with you against Caldorina, but you've pushed us into a corner with marrying prince Samuel. Let's work out the details and make a plan, but after this you and the hero must handle the demon lord situation if it gets out of hand.”

Zatiel did not hesitate to open her pocket dimension and retrieve a map. She laid it out on the table and suggested a campaign. The three major players would be Venice from the center of the continent, the demons from the wastelands to the northwest of the Dwarven mountain kingdom, and the beastkin nation of Everila from the east. Caldorina itself was the largest nation in the north.
