Kaiju Girls: A New Era

Loud explosions can be heard throughout the air in Los Angeles as Gojira and Blue Reaper face the adult Goliath, Blue Reaper performs hit and run tactics while Gojira catches a punch from Goliath.

The tip of the Kaiju's tails lights up and both combatants evade the strafing lasers. Blue Reaper evades a grapple, taking to the sky and launches a salvo of missiles at Goliath, the Kaiju is unfazed, swatting the NEXT like it's an annoying house fly. Blue Reaper uses the boosters to soften the landing. Deploying the Grind Blade, Blue Reaper speeds toward Goliath's mandible, leaving cuts that don't penetrate the hide very much. Shrugging off the attack, the Kaiju grabs hold of the NEXT in a bear hug with intent on crushing the machine. Blue Reaper is able to keep the left arm free and lands open palm strikes to the behemoth's face to make Goliath release the hold. The blue NEXT retaliates with rapid swings of the Grind Blade against the Kaiju's chest leaving only scratches on the thick hide plating.

Retreating, Leo decided to focus his attacks on a specific spot on Goliath's body knowing sooner or later he'll weaken the target area enough to leave a wound.

Blue Reaper evades a swing from Goliath's tails, seeing the latter's mouth open and energy begins to gather. The NEXT and Gojira split to avoid. The strafing laser carves into the ground, leaving a partially molten hole in the pavement and cloud of smoke in its wake. The two grab a separate second arm and pull Goliath off its feet. Gojira charges her atomic breath and fires it, generating a large explosion that envelops Goliath. One of the beast's primary hands emerges from the smoke and grabs Gojira lifting her off the ground and throws her. She crashes to the ground, rolling on it several times taking out buildings and crushing anyone still struggling to find shelter from the fight. She's soon joined by Blue Reaper after the latter is thrown by Goliath, its back grinding against the pavement before coming to a complete stop, its legs slamming to the ground. They both see the adult Goliath departing Los Angeles and heading somewhere.

Leo: "Serene, where's the target heading?"

Serene (over the radio, typing on the keyboard): "Hold on just a minute. It's heading for one of California's first commercial nuclear fusion power plants. If it gets destroyed, Los Angeles will be left without power for weeks. I just got an update from the mayor; he wants to protect that power plant at all costs." Due to the Lynx War and later Economic War, construction on nuclear fusion reactors were put on hold due to funds being directed to the conflicts. However, Calaway Industries was able to secure funds and formed connections with activists looking for alternative energy sources to replace Kojima energy for commercial. When the Lynx War ended, construction on the first commercial nuclear fusion reactor continued. A year later, the first commercial reactor was opened to the public, achieving what was thought to be nigh impossible. Harnessing the power of a star on Earth. Cleaner, far more efficient and less contaminating as opposed to fission with the only byproduct from fusion being helium, a non-flammable gas that doesn't have a long half-life compared to uranium-235 or plutonium-238.

Calaway Industries was also looking to unlock so-called "cold fusion" where the fusion reaction occurs at or near room temperature instead of extreme temperature and pressure. So far, the company hasn't been able to achieve that. But that won't stop the company from unlocking it.

Goliath steadily advances through Los Angeles, crushing everyone underfoot and knocking skyscrapers over without a care. It shoots down Apache attack helicopters and F/A-18 Hornets, at one point swatting a passing F/A-18 like an annoying house fly. It feels a beam connect with its back it whips around growling at the two combatants sent to defeat him. Goliath charges, Gojira and Blue Reaper change tactics. When one of them attacks, the other will wait then launch an attack of their own.
