San and Mingi kept up conversation with Yunho for a couple of hours. Every now and then, Yeosang would shift in his sleep and snuggle up a little closer. By the time one of the guards came to inform San that the rest of the Pack was returning home, Yeosang’s upper body was half on top of Yunho. His cheek pressed against the taller man’s chest and still deep in sleep. His face was slightly flushed from sleep but his scent remained soft and airy. Yunho’s hand moved gently up and down his back absently. He didn’t even realize he was doing it. The feeling of the small Omega nestled into his side was the most amazing thing in the world.
“Thank you.” San smiled to the guard then dismissed him back to his duties. The guard glanced at Yunho holding Yeosang, a little surprised, but didn’t say anything before he left.
“The others are home.” San announced as he stood up.
Yunho followed him with his eyes then tensed when he realized what he’d said. “Should I—”
“Oh, no. Don’t disturb him.” Mingi moved over to one of the chests at the end of the couch and pulled out another blanket. “We tend to let him sleep as long as he wants to. Especially since lately Yeosang has been struggling with nightmares.” He sighed as he unfolded the blanket and carefully draped it over Yeosang, and partially over Yunho.
San leaned down to kiss Yeosang’s head and stroked his hair. Yunho held his breath at the close proximity, not moving until San had stepped back. The scent of the Alpha was so calming yet had a freshness to it at the same time. Yunho felt invigorated, yet relaxed. When San smiled at him, he realized the Alpha may have done it on purpose.
“I’ll go and greet them.” San smiled again before he turned and left the library.
Yunho sucked in a deep breath and held it. Yeosang scrunched his nose in displeasure and Yunho breathed out again. He could feel the Omega rubbing his cheek against his chest before he settled down again.
Mingi watched with his head in his hand. A soft smile decorated his face at the image in front of him. “I’m sure San said it before but, there really must be something special about you.”
Yunho looked up at him and blinked in confusion. “Special?”
“Mm, Yeosang.” Mingi breathed deeply as he thought about how to word his thoughts. “It took months for him to warm up to me. San and Jongho even longer. But you? It’s like he’s known you his whole life.”
Yunho looked down at Yeosang. He watched his back rise and fall with each breath. The way the hand-embroidered blanket was still clutched in his hand and little strands of threaded grass would move as he let out puffs of air from his lips.
“I don’t know how I should feel about it, honestly. I’ve barely spoken with him. And yet he’s comfortable like this?” Yunho looked up at Mingi and met his fond gaze. “I want to protect him.”
Mingi smiled more and stood up again. He walked over and sat on Yunho’s other side. He reached over and pushed some of Yeosang’s hair from his face, tucking it behind his ear. He chuckled at the small noise of protest Yeosang made and moved his hand to gently rub his shoulder. Yunho watched Mingi with Yeosang and felt a small ache in his chest. A growing desire to remain close to all of them. He wanted to get the chance to learn their stories, to eventually share his own. He wanted to discover who they all were as people and as a Pack. Yet for any of that to happen, Yunho still had to get over the hurdle that was Hongjoong. He frowned a little at the thought but forced himself to relax, letting Yeosang continue his nap on his chest.
San stood at the front doors when the carriage pulled up. Wooyoung practically flew out of it the moment he stopped. If San hadn’t been prepared, he would have been knocked down. As it was though, he barely moved when he caught the smaller Beta in his arms. He laughed when Wooyoung kissed his neck, tickling him in the process. He set Wooyoung down on his feet and hugged him close to his chest. He buried his nose in Wooyoung’s neck, scenting him.
