Yunho found himself with plenty of company over the next few days. As much as he enjoyed getting to explore the mansion and have some time to himself, he missed the Pack more. A dangerous thought if he allowed himself a moment to think too long. Thankfully, after that day spent cozied up in the den, Yunho hadn’t been left along long enough for it to rear its head. Mingi would invite him for a morning stroll or Jongho sat with him reading in the library. Yunho even went into town once again with San. A short trip to order more fresh food for the kitchen pantries.

Three days since Wooyoung’s Beta rut ended, Yunho found himself in the storage rooms with San and Seonghwa. The Luna had invited him to join them while they looked over everything for San’s quarterly inventory. Yunho wasn’t exactly sure how he could help but he went along with them anyway.

San opened the door that led down into the cool storage and flicked on the lights for the stairs. He guided the way and Yunho followed with Seonghwa behind him. The place was clean and free of dust and cobwebs. It looked well maintained. Yunho guessed it was due to the maids and other staff frequenting the area while they managed the house. It was always amazing how well the household functioned even without Hongjoong managing every little thing.

“Down here we have our food and other items that can be stored for a long period of time. Things like dried meats and herbs as well as Doctor Parks spare medicines.” San pointed off to the side where rows of solid wooden shelves lined the wall. Yunho could see various sealed boxes and jars lined up neatly upon the shelves. Some of the contents he recognized immediately but a lot of them he didn’t.

“Further back we have things like winter clothes and furs. Also some stores of materials for trading if the time ever comes up. We’re doing quite well, but Hongjoong and I discussed having a backup just in case a month or two don’t go quite as well.” San continues to explain as they walk in. There is a desk at the back as well and Yunho tilted his head in confusion. There were neatly stacked pages with a lamp settled in one corner. It didn’t look used often but was clean like everything else.

Seonghwa walked over to it and pulled out a key to unlock the top drawer. Once it was open, he removed what looked like a ledger. San walked over to the wall of foods and plucked another ledger from a hook next to it. Yunho watched curiously as he and Seonghwa looked at each of them together.

“Yunho, do you want to help count?” Seonghwa asked after a moment. He smiled warmly at the other as he waited for his response.

Yunho tore himself away from staring at the various things and moved closer to them. “Oh, sure.” He looked around again then grimaced. “Uhm…where should I start?”

San walked him through how they normally performed their inventory. He showed him the two ledgers and the different numbers on each one. He then explained that the one kept on the shelf was for staff to keep track of when they used things so it was easier to know when something needed restocked. Yunho listened with interest, finding it intriguing how San handled this part of the household’s affairs.
