“If it were for me, I would make you carry me wherever we go.” - Isabel said, grinning.
Christopher was carrying her bridal style, having been just reached home from the apartment.
“I wouldn't mind, honestly.” - he replied, returning her grin.
She laughed wholeheartedly. They entered the main hall to find it quiet and empty which was not a surprise considering the time being post midnight. Christopher's eyes caught light in the pathway to their right and it was coming from the half opened door of the clubroom.
“It seems someone is awake.” - he mused, frowning and placed Isabel down to her feet. “I'll join you shortly, love. Till then you freshen up.”
“Okay but come soon...” - she said with a lazy smile. Sleep was dancing in her eyes.
He pecked her lips softly before she took stairs and headed up. He made his way towards the clubroom and his suspicion proved right. It was Foxen inside.
”Dad...”
Foxen was in a half laid, half sitting position on the couch, a glass of alcohol in hand and the half emptied bottle on the table in front of him. His expressions were such as if the doctor had declared him at the last stage of cancer. Which precisely meant he looked a mess and Christopher's heart flipped in joy at the sight.
”Christopherrr...” - Foxen slurred slightly, managing a smile at his appearance. “Come in, come in..”
Christopher walked further inside the room and saw some photographs on the table beside the bottle. He smirked when he realized it were the pictures he had Lucas anonymously send Foxen. And it explained Foxen's condition at that moment.
“See these ? My only son is smuggling drugs...” - Foxen said noticing Christopher's gaze on the photographs.
In the pictures, Aiden could be seen dealing with the drug lords at a very secluded and gloomy place. How did Lucas captured such photographs Christopher didn't know. It was very risky and dangerous but Lucas, miraculously, had the job done.
Before sending those to police or CBSA, Christopher sent them to Foxen because it would make Foxen know that Aiden was involved in drug trafficking and there was someone who knew about it. It was a whole lot of pressure over the old man specially in the current circumstances.
“I can't believe this.. Aiden imports drugs!” - he acted shocked, dropping on the couch beside Foxen. “You know this isn't a good news Dad...”
Foxen sighed, placing his glass at the table. “I know. If the media or CBSA got a hunch of this, not only Aiden but Wilder Chemicals would suffer as well.”
Christopher hid his smirk. That was why he had confidently sent the photos to Foxen without the fear of the photos losing their importance before time because he knew Foxen will never tell anyone. He was a criminal by heart and would defend any crime just for his personal benefits.
“Have you talked to Aiden about it ?” - Christopher asked, furrowing his brows in concern.
“Oh he doesn't give a damn...” - Foxen said, pushing the glass off the table that shattered on the floor. “This guy will only rest after sending me to the grave!”
Well, Christopher didn't know about Aiden but he definitely would only rest after seeing the old fox in the grave. That too, after giving him a whole lot of pain and trauma.
Foxen leaned back in his chair, looking at the ceiling. “I had so many plans for Aiden. Had thought that he will look after the company like me and would expand our business further but alas...” - Tears rolled out of his eyes and down the cheeks.
