Chapter 11;

Jess p.o.v

The party was amazing. We got there just after 9pm, but it was already buzzing. There were so many people there, laughing and joking, drinking and singing. It was in a house on the coast. It was large, simply decorated but homely.

As Eric led me up the front steps to the front door, we heard a familiar voice call out.

"E, Jess!" we turned around to see JSon in swimming trunks, oddly.

"What's with the shorts?" I asked, laughing.

"Oh, we've decided to go swimming." he awnsered, "Come join us?"

"Nah," I awnsered, "I forgot my costume." I said, sarcastically. He laughed.

"Fair enough. I'm off for a swim - catch ya later, guys!" We both awnsered with a "See ya!"

Eric p.o.v.

We spent most of the night dancing, talking to people (who turned out to be fans of mine, embarrassingly, although Jess said I handled it well), and we had a few drinks.

I think I handled them slightly better though, as I often had a few beers, and I knew Jess rarely drunk.

By about 11.30pm, she was more than slightly tipsy. I tried to stop her drinking anymore and went to take her home, but she shoved me away and ran off into the crowd of people.

"Jess!" I called over the ear pounding music. "Jess!" I walked through most of the rooms in the house, checking for her and yelling her name. I ended up back outside, 10 minutes later, on the other side of the pool.

It was only when I heard various people whooping and whistling that I looked over. I could see mostly only Jess, but I could also see someones arm wrapped around her.

My mind was racing as I pushed my way through the crowds of oblivious dancers. She wouldn't ... kiss someone else, would she?

They finally came into view and I stopped dead. There she was, kissing another man. I could almost feel my heart rip as I shouted "Jess!" She pushed the man away, gasping for breath, not looking at all like herself.

My rational mind wasn't working properly as I lunged towards the man, delivering the most powerful punch I could to his face.

I heard a satisfying crack under my knuckles. I wasn't a violent person, but he had been kissing my Jess - I wouldn't let him get away with that!

I could feel my arm rising for another punch, but just as I swung, I felt pair of arms drag me back. "E!" It was JSon, I noticed through my blurred senses. I struggled to break free, but he held me firm.

"Bro, don't! He's not worth it!"

"But he was kissing Jess!" I yelled. I was still angry but I felt all the energy suddenly drain from me. As I went suddenly still, I heard him ask

"Ok? Can I let you go?" I nodded slowly. I didn't notice until now that he had dragged me away, into what looked like a gym. I could hear the commotion outside, but I couldn't care.

Jess had kissed a random guy. It should hurt, yet weirdly, I wasn't feeling anything. I collapsed onto a work-out bench, just staring at the wall opposite me. I guess I should be used to this, being heartbroken.

"E?" No reply from me. "E, you need to go home, man."

"I-I ... Jess-" he stopped me before I could say anything else.

"Don't worry about Jess, I'll bring her back. You just get back home - be careful." he told me, helping me up. I didn't see Jess as I walked to the car, but I noticed everyone giving me a wide berth as I walked, flexing my fist.

Damn, that had hurt, but it hadn't helped make me less angry, I thought as I got into the car.

With a sigh, I started the engine and drove home.
